you should get health care card rates for fees.
.
Mum with 6 kids, 5 boys, one girl
18, 14, 12, 98, 9, 6
its through seek learning's tafe provider and i dont think they offer health care card rates coz the guy i spoke to on the phone just rambled on about how i could get financial assistance on a loan through some company if i was working 20 hours a week minium.then i told him i wasnt working and he said i could go to a bank and get a loan
i doubt a bank will give me a loan

A few months ago DP was looking for work or anything to do and he was with The Salvation Army through good old centrelink... the salvos wanted to know if there were any courses he wanted to do or traineeships etc... he wanted to do his year 10+12 through tafe and they said to him if he got a quote from the tafe they would pay for his course... however his course were only about $200 each.
Im pretty sure they said that they would pay for it all or if it was more expensive, at least some of it they'd pay.
I don't know how you'd exactly go about it all but maybe its an option. Could you maybe study openlearning or even at tafe? Up in QLD the course you want to do it $800 and thats full fare, half price if your on a health care card, i have a couple of friends studing it...
Hope i helped even in a little way![]()
Christie. (Good luck with everything, i know how hard it is to start studing)

Thomson Education Direct has the same course for about the same price (books and everything included) but they have a payment plan and you get three years to finish the degree at no extra cost (unlike TAFE which you have to pay each semester for enrolment plus books etc).
The payment plan is like $70 a month or something over 20 months with a deposit of $40. Their website is www.thomsoneducationdirect.com.au
I know its not exactly cheap but the payment plan makes it a little bit easier.
I spoke to centrelink because i want to do a course and they said that they dont cover fees, but they will give you money each fortnight to study. Plus some money at the start to help with books. The amount of money you get depends on the amount of hours you are studying. I am not exactly sure of the amounts i have it written down somewhere. The best thing you can do is call them up or look on the website.
i ended up applying to do it at my local tafe it works out to be cheaper. c/link told me i couldnt get anything toher then youth allowance as a student. lol
clarebear1983- i dont like thomson education many of their coures arent accreditied and they say they are and the tutors dont mark assingment properly. IMO they shouldnt have a RTO liscence.

I'm pretty sure this is for single parents only as it's called the pensioner education supplement.Originally Posted by claireandbailey
