Washable nappies-which ones are best?

Our little man is now 5 months old and his cloth nappies (the good old square you-fold-em-yourself type) and almost outgrowing him. I've seen many different brands available in the washable nappy systems, but as they are all quite expensive, do not want to just purchase the first one I see.

Can anyone recomend a nappy system they bought, where they got it, how much it was and why they like it?

Will help to give me some directions before departing with my hard earned money.

I personally prefer the Eenee system.

You buy the Eenee which is a cover. It is not absorbant at all and you get the flat nappies (which you already have) and fold them into a pad shape and place into the Eenee.

I find them fantastic. The older style Eenee's I quite prefer myself but you can only buy them 2nd hand on e-bay. The newer style though is good too though just not as fancy! And they can be purchased from all different places online here is the website www.eenee.com.au

Their are also biodegradable pads you can buy for the nappies too so if you go on holidays you can still use the Eenee's without having to buy disposables.

All up we have 8 pairs of Eenee pants and 2 dozen flat nappies and never run out. But you could probably get away with 4 or 5 Eenee's easily!

I guess the best idea might be to have a little search through all the sites ... and choose a few that you like the look of - then post asking for feedback on that particular nappy (that way you will find out if it is a dodgy one before purchase- people can be more specific)

- be careful ... I think a reason that some people hate cloth is because they were ripped off by a dodgy nappy that didn't do what they were told (ie.. a supposed all in one that leaked... ) - for that reason be careful of using ebay until you have checked out brands and gotten feedback..

Check out this site too! I found it slightly easier to navigate around then Oz Cloth. Though Oz Cloth is a good site!

To answer you question now though with a bubba as young as yours I wouls look at Baby beehinds
they are a great system for young bubba and will grow with you child. They are about to get a new shippment of bamboo in too which is so soft and beautiful.

I agree with everyone else. Do your research and then post on here about those you like you find out which ones other's like or dislike.

I just re read your post and noticed that your bub is only 5 months old, perhaps a different nappy fold would be better as the 'fold-em-yourself type' will last till toilet training with the right fold.

So perhaps no need to buy more nappies.

What nappy fold are you using at the moment?

If you are happy using the flat terries, why not tweak your system and continue using it? The Jo fold can be adjusted to fit a larger baby (and toddler even). Maybe purchasing some trim boosters would also be an inexpensive way to add absorbancy without outlaying a heap of cash on something that may not suit.

If you are interested in modern cloth and only want one type of nappy, I would recommend non aplix Tots Bots size 2 (bamboo if it's available). They are not the trimest of the fitted cloth nappies but they are very reliable and I believe to suit the widest range of body shapes. They are trimer than a folded flat terry so it won't be a huge difference as if you were converting from disposables.
