    Default Uti

    Hi everyone...

    What causes UTI's???
I know some people get them after sex, but unfortunatly that isnt my reason for getting them......

I have had 2 UTI's in the last 2 weeks. All i have to do is drink HEAPS of cranberry juice and its all over......but at 1am until 3am thats a bit annoying......

So, what can i do to not get so many.

The symptoms i get are the need to wee and the pain after weeing...No burning or stinging.....So URAL is out......

    love love love

I'm not sure.. sometimes not drinking enough water can be a cause.
I have only had a uti once, and it was when I first fell pregnant (as is I was so early along I didn't even know I was preg)

It just depends. Sometimes it can be situational (ie getting a bit too dehydrated) sometimes it can be physical (ie there can be a problem with your urethra or your kidneys etc).

Most of the time its just 'one of those things'.

The things you can do to avoid it are to wee EVERY TIME after having sex, wipe from front to back after you use the toilet - NEVER back to front, drink at least 2 litres of water a day with the occassional glass of cranberry juice thrown in, and generally look after yourself so you can fight off an infection easily if one does come on.

It could be the same uti just flaring up again. I would go to the doctor if I were you to get some antibiotics.
I get them quite often and I let one go as I thought it would go away and almost ended up in hospital they can make you very ill.
    Good luck

The cause of a uti is a bacteria which is called E Coli (i think) that lives in the digestive tract & there are certain things that can trigger it off.. I would prob say that if the cranberry juice isnt helping then you should go to the drs to get some antibiotics to fight the infection or else it might keep re occuring & turn into something more serious like a kidney infection

    Good luck

I agree with the other ladies Ains.

Why don't you go to the Drs and have a chat to them.

Would your IVF Dr be able to help?

Some can be really stubborn, a friend had one repeatedly. I still take ural even if I don't get the stinging and cranberry juice is only useful if it's the pure one with no sugar, otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose. I take capsules as you would need to drink a couple of litres a day to get the required goodies you need. Maybe stay on the capsules for a while.

I try to avoid going on the antibiotics as it then affects my gut etc flora and it's a bit of a vicious cycle.

I spoke to my DR about it and i basically have figured out that i just need to drink a glass or 2 of cranberry juice a day. Which is easy.....Plus all of my water. She seemed to think it could have something to do with IVF drugs and the huge use of condoms and lube that they use at the clinic for internal ultrasounds. And basically i should invest in some fem wipes........what ever they are!!!

hi ho hi ho its off to the chemist i go!!!

Ains, I'm glad you got an answer. I've seen those wipes before. I think they are usually with the pads & tampons.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

    Hi All

I had an attack of UTI's a couple of years ago.

I went to the doctors who kept prescribing me antibiotics. I drank cranberry juice and loads of water, and nothing worked.

I got that fed up with it that I decided to do some research online to see if I could find anything natural that I could take to stop these attacks.

Cranberry juice is a falicy I'm afraid. If anything it can inflame the problem.

It is E-Coli that is the bacteria that causes most UTI's. Not all though.

There is a natural product out there that helps with this. It's called Waterfall D Mannose

You should look at this website

    http://www.waterfall-d-mannose.com/

It's the most fantastic thing, completely natural made from a plant, doesn't affect pregnancy, altho it can stop you from getting pregnant, so don't take it when TTCing.

I gave some to my cousin when she was UTD cus she was having the same probs and it cleared up in less than 24 hours and she never had a repeat attack.

I have never had a UTI since taking them. You can take them in tablet form or powder.

I never touch Cranberry juice now, just drink water

    Hope this helps!
