Default How long were you in labour?

    Hi all!

Just a quick question of how long you were in labour for before you had your caesarean?

And if you had an elective caesarean, why?

I had DD via caesar almost a year ago but was in labour for 19 1/2 long hours!!!

    I didn't.

While I TECHNICALLY had an elective c-section, I never wanted to have one so for me it wasn't a decision I made. Sure, I signed the paperwork, but only because I thought that I HAD to.

I had my c-section because I would not go into labour, even after being induced, and DD was 2 weeks late.

I would REALLY love to go into labour though. While I KNOW it will probably hurt like hell, I'd just like to experience it. It's something I feel like I've missed out on - I can never relate to anyone when they talk about contractions...and I feel as if I should because I am a mother. Must seem weird...WANTING to go into labour! lol.

Stacey, I completely understand you, and you are not weird! They really should have another category for C/S, elective, emergemcy, and medically necessary.

I was in labour about 17 hours before the slice and dice I cannot wait until this birth, I am finally going to use my birth canal!

Id been in full labour in hospital for 28 hours (not counting any of the labour time at home) before I had my caesarean.
It was emergency caesar due to bub being in full breech (the doctors didnt pick it until right at the end! ) and bub was getting stressed.
Good thing was I got to 9cm dilated so Im hoping for a smoother labour this time around!

    Red face labour

I went into hospital on the Thursday and I was induced ( I was 1cm already) then laboured until Saturday morning (I was 9cm) and my baby turned fully posterior so I had to have an emergency c-section at 8am that morning. I FULL ON laboured for 18 hours.

I have to have another c-section with this baby, but trying to have it done at around 39 1/2 weeks so bub can take full advantage of staying inside me until then. Hopefully I wont go into spontaneous labour!

This is one of the things that peeves me, because I've never had one of these long drawn out labours before my c/secs.....why couldnt they have more patience with me?

Maybe with my 1st I can kinda understand.....I took about 9 hours to fully dilate, and then was pushing a posterior bub for 2 hrs and 40 mins. He became stuck, and the ob felt that trying to turn him with a ventouse or something would have been fruitless...I must say, when they were pulling him out during the c/sec, it did take them a while, he was pretty wedged in (it felt like having a humongous tooth pulled from my pelvis!) and he had a cone head for about 24 hours after....

My vbac was about the same amount of time, though I only pushed for 16 minutes

My 3rd, again I was in labour for about 9 hours, and for the last 3 or so of those I didnt budge from 7cms (in fact, my husband reckons they did one measurement of 8 cms, but when the ob came to check, I'd returned to 7cms.....)......so they whisked me in and sliced me open......

Why couldnt they wait a bit longer? I wasnt bothered by waiting longer..... I just needed an expert midwife who could reposition me and calm me down! (sorry, little rant )

so......I feel for your ladies who laboured for 20 odd hours or more.......
