Default Cloth pads, talk to me

So, if I wanted to switch to cloth pads, how many would I need? And what do you think are the best?

    He Bron,

Angela pretty much said it all but I will add my 2 cents.

How many you need depends on your typical flow, I normal have 3 days of heavy and 4 days of light, I have 10 pads atm and have just bought 2 more. I will probably end up 15 and that's enough for me.

I like Twinkle Lily and Chickadee (lol not the mod) pads.

The best place to go is clothpadshop.com.

They have heaps of info and a great range.

    Try
    www.outrageouscloth.com

I LOVE their range. Soooo funky.

You can start off with just one or two and try them out and then expand your stash to cover your entire AF.

I've got 7 so far and it was just enough to get me through, but I had a load of washing to do everyday, so I just chucked them in.

I am not really up to speed on materials but I have a couple that have I think polar fleece of something like that which I think will be too hot for warm days but the rest are flannel which is fine.

I have only bought from two different places so far (through the cloth pad shop) and I am preferring A Little Monkey Business. I wouldn't hesitate buying any pad made by them.

Oh just a tip (you reminded me of this chelle) the first couple of pads I bought were fleece topped. While this is great as fleece tends not to stain, in the QLD summer I have been avoiding them as they are not a breathable as the flannel or velour topped ones.

So if you live in QLD/NT/WA def go for ones that are non fleece topped!

Oh lovely. Thanks for the replies. Good advice about the fleece tops (I'm in WA). I'll get googling.

    I like wemoon pads.
Just buy a few different brands and build up you stash slowly.
    See what you like

here are so many reasons I love using cloth pads.

I use cloth pads because they are more comfortable. Paper and plastic pads are sweaty, the adhesive shifts constantly they actually promote heavier bleeding and cramping. Some women report that they have lighter and less crampy periods with cloth menstrual pads.

I save a lot money this way, I love knowing I will never run out of pads.

    To wash them,

After I use them I put them in a bucket of cold with a bit of tea tree oil water to soak. When I am I ready to wash them I put them in the washing machine. And them hang them on the line in the sun.

    Good luck.

It's a woman's choice what she does with her own body, but when she is entrusted with the care of another life, whether in her womb or as a newborn, she has an added responsibility.
The importance of this should be far greater than her own needs.
