Default Bee sting - should she see a doctor?

My DD trod on a bee yesterday, and well as picking one up. She was stung on her hand and on the bottom of her foot.

I managed to get the stinger out of her hand, and thought I'd got the it from her foot too, but it seems this morning that it's still in her foot, under her skin. She's haviong trouble walking and crying a little when she stands on that foot.

I don't really want to start picking at it, breaking the skin and then leaving it open to infection. Do you think I should take her to see a doctor? Or will it just come out itself.

    Thanks...

Id probably go some fine tipped tweezers to get it out, then keep putting antiseptic on it,

The doctor, i assume, wouldnt be able to do any different. Take her if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself.

If the stinger is still in there then I do suggest going to the doctor, especially if you can't get it out yourself.

I thought I that, although I can't believe we don't have any bandaids or antiseptic cream in this house!!

I think that's the best option. It does look as though the skin has closed over it, so it would mean I would have to pick at it and break her skin, which would mean i'd need a clean needle and antiseptic cream and a bandaid to cover the broken skin afterwards.

i would put ice on the bite to try to reduce any swelling so u can have a better look & see if you can get the sting out..a fine pair of tweezers or a pin to break the skin a little bit!

If in doubt ring your local hospital and ask to be put through to Health Direct Australia (now available in NSW although no public number yet) - the triage nurses will walk you through what to do

thank you everyone for your suggestions. I took her to the doctor this morning, she had a look at the bite, but didn't think there was anything in there.

Since leaving the doctor, her foot has swollen up and is bright red and very warm.

It doesn't seem to be bothering her, she is able to walk ok now, without it causing her pain.

Does anyone know if this is just a normal reaction to a bee sting...

    Thanks

Cobey had a bee sting a couple of weeks ago. His foot went red and warm as well, I called a local nurses hotline and the nurse suggested that it 'wasn't normal' and to take him to the doctor.
The doctor, however, said it was normal and the nurse hotline were simply covering their backsides in case of a reaction... and just to kiss it better or give him an antihistamine if it's bothering either of us.
