    Default am I miscarrying?

I've had some spotting on and off over the last 3 weeks, and am seeing my obs on Tuesday for my next scheduled appointment. In the meantime just wondering if anyone who has been through something similar could tell me if this sounds like an impending miscarriage. How long does light bleeding go on for before it is clear it's a miscarriage and heavy bleeding starts?

It's never been much (perhaps a 20 cent piece), mostly brown and has only lasted about 3 hours each time. In the last week it has happened every second day and twice in this time I had a bit of cramping.

Oh, and I'm 14.5 weeks along and I had my first scan showing all OK 2 weeks ago.

Coogeemum, do yourself a favour call your OB and/or pop off to hospital or your GP. It may be nothing but you should get them to check. Even if it is something it may not be dire but you may need some help. Look after yourself.

i'd get checked out for piece of mind.

I had HEAVY bleeding (including clots) for 5 weeks - but was fine, but in then end the placenta ceased functioning as too much had pulled away from the wall, so i ended up miscarrying.

Good luck - sticky vibes your way

Thanks ladies. Saw my ob this morning and we heard the baby's heartbeat. All OK. He said that mild bleeding like this is very common as the cervix can 'leak', and only to be concerned if there is heavy bleeding (like in the middle of a period, or worse). So relieved!

You should keep an eye on things, maybe try and have more regular check ups, I had bleeding with one of my pregnancies, and I could always hear the heart beat at my checkups, but I went on to lose my DD at 20wks, so you just never know what can happen, In my case bleeding always means bad news, I have lost several bubs, and always after bleeding, Good luck.
