Default Did anyone else catch the Life at 1 documentry on ABC last night?

It has several families and they follow the progress of a child over their 1st yr. The scariest bit was one woman who was having troubles breast feeding and she went to a lactation consultant and this woman was made to sit in a chair in room like an office and the lc kept throwing the poor bub at this womans boob at some sort of mad attemt to get the poor child to attatch and when the bub did the woman screamed and cried as she has cracked nipples...I was in tears it was truely horrible and they had no success (no wonder !!!) I hope no new mother sees this as what it is like to breast feed it was a terrible what they did to this poor woman.

Yes I watch, OMG that lactation consultant!!
The phone rang so I sent DP out to get it. She doesn't need to see that, she is already fearful of BF and stories that are told!

I don't belive they should have shown the hole seen as it was.

I have it on DVD. Life at 3 is on tonight and thats the one I'm hanging out for. I can't wait to see how much they have grown up!!!

Some people need to find a new profession. All LCs I've come across have been gentle and very caring people.

It is about REAL experiences. This sort of thing does happen way too often. Just as there are mean LC there are mean GP's, OB's, midwives, paediatricians and everything else too!
There are good ones as well though, ones you WISH you could meet again or ones you would send flowers and chocolates to.

That is such a shame though.

Yes I do believe it may have turned some women off bf and that is a big shame ,I don't think it was wise of the programers to show that . Good luck to your partner oneontheway your support is one of the most important things.

I saw it and thought it was very interesting, my heart went out to that mum though, she obviously really wanted to BF but was in agony.

The bit about Ben who is the youngest of quads made me sad though, they called him the runt of the litter once and the behaviourist said that babies who are born under 33 weeks are more prone to anxiety and depression, DS was born at 29 so upset me a bit.

Anyway I will be watching life at 3 tonight for sure!

I could be wrong but I thought ABC advertised that the 2 were aired on consecutive nights. I'll check.
