    Default Thumb Sucking

    Hey All,

Long before I had my son I decided I wouldnt use dummys. I saw so many children have them unneccessarily (Constantly in the mouth for no reason & 5 yo etc) and I didnt want that for my baby. He is 4 months old and he has started sucking his thumb which horrifies me even more. I am terrified he will suck his thumb into puberty as I here such stories from other thumb suckers. I tried swapping for a dummy as you can take those away but he isnt interested. He only sucks his thumb when he is tired.
    What can I do?
    =(

i wouldnt worry about it, most thumb suckers stop by the time they get to kindi, verry few still suck there thumbs as teens or adults (i was a sucker till i was 4) a friend of ours little girl is a sucker and she only sucks now at bed time (she will be 3 in nov) he is still a little baby and obviously still needs the comfort that sucking brings, if his still sucking all day at 6 then worry

    DD1 did the same thing.
i would take it out all the time and i even put a dummy in hoping for her to take that rather then her thumb.
she is now 3 and still sucks her thumb, she is an avid thumb sucker although she does not do it as much as she use to now days.

Thanx, I was in a shop the other day and pulled out his thumb and a lady just started talking to me saying it's fine and her child sucked her thumb until she was 13yo and still occasionally wakes up with it in her mouth... Her daughter is now 40yo.
    SO I freaked out.
