Default What to do....is this CC

I dont want to CC my DD but i dont know what else to do, or if what i am doing is CC.

She is 20 months and about 2 months ago jumped through her cot so we brought her a toddler bed.

She wouldnt sleep in it, i was workig full time and couldnt handle her getting upset at night so she ended up in our bed.

I ended up putting her bed in our room and she would sleep in it, so i have now put it back in her room but she screams at bed time.

Last night i put her to bed and she wouldnt lay down just sat up in it screaming when i picked her up she clung to me.

So i put her back on her bed (screaming) and walked out, she could see me from her bed (i was on the lounge) but she just screamed and screamed, then started coming out, i would put her back in and she was so upset i had to put her in our bed.

I need help with what to do, she moves around way to much and i get hardly any sleep, she will only sleep on our bed for her day sleep as well.

So what i am asking is what should i do?? And is this CC??

    Leash
    And then their was 5

I guess it is CC - I define CC as any period where a child is left to cry in their room for an interval without a parental presence with the purpose of getting the child to sleep.

Let me preface the rest of my post by saying I am not a CCer but wanted to give some helpful tips to hopefully make it easier for you. I have gathered these ideas from the "No Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers" by Elizabeth Pantley.

What's you pre-bed routine like? Can I suggest you do some of the following before bed:
    • make sure bubs is well and tired before bed - has had a good day with lots of physical activity
    • make sure bubs isn't sleeping too much - a baby sleeping too much in the day wn't be tired at night
    • use dim lights for the hour or so before bed to set bub's diurnal rhythm
    • no TV for at least an hour before bed as it is stimulating
    • no sugar before bed
    • do quiet play before bed like read books
    • have a set routine, e.g. dinner, bath, milky drink, brush teeth, books, cuddle bed works for us
    • give sleep promoting foods like a banana before bed but after dinner
    • give a nice long relaxing bath time (maybe add a drop of lavender oil to promote relaxation)
    • read the same book together in bed to signpost bed time - we use "Time for Bed" by Mem Fox, which is lovely.
With these things in place, the CC may well be faster and more successful.

If you are thinking that CC is not for you I really recommend Elizabeth Pantley's book. She saved my life.

If you would refer to press on with the CC, it might be a good idea to sit down and work out a plan beforehand (e.g. how many minutes will you leave her, how long will you go in for, how will you provide comfort (in arms or in bed, etc)) so that when the time comes to do the CC you have a plan to follow rather than going with the flow which can be very stressful when bubs is crying.

All the best - sleep issues are dreadful. As I said in my earlier post Elizabeth Pantley's book did wonders for us. It took a lot of patience but we got there - 4 sleep throughs this week

PS Don't beat yourself up - you're tired.
