Question Elective c/s - how long in hospital?

I have booked an elective c/s having had a long labour and emergency c/s with DD.

After the e c/s they gave me the option of an early discharge (after three nights I think) but I didn't feel ready to leave and stayed on for 5 nights.

This time I want to get out as quick as I can - presuming there's no complications from the elective how quickly did you all get home from hospital?

With my DS I was home on Day 4 (although it was kind of Day 5, but he was born in the evening so it was classed as Day 4)

With DD2 who was born in the morning, I was also home Day 5. There is no way I would have physically been up to going home anytime before Day 4.

The hospital I go to, generally speaking discharges c-sections on Day 5 or Day 6 (this is a private hosptial).

I heard an ex-boyfriend's wife was discharged from the public hospital (in the same city) after an emergency c-section on Day 3 WTF??

    I had two c/s.

They tried to get me to go home on the fourth day (after 3rd night). They were just so ridiculous. With my first, I was in so much pain and they just ignored me - trying to wean me off the pain killers so they could send me home. By the end of the day, I hadn't peed all day and they finally conceded something was wrong so they had to put the cathedar back in and kept me in for another two nights!!

With my second, they did the same thing. Tried to boot me out and stopped the pain killers waaay too early, but I was seeing a psych for antenatal depression who 'strongly recommended' I stay in longer to bond with bub who was in NICU.

If i have another c/s, i will definitely look at going private!!

I had an emergancy c-sec on the Thursday night and went home on the Monday morning so on day 4 but it was only really 3 days. I was happy with that as I'd been in hospital for 5 weeks prior to having DS who was in SCU and would be for a while. I also had my Mum and Dad staying with us to help with the boys and look after me bless them.

This time will be an elective and I'm not sure when I'll be home but hopefully I'll be feeling ok by day 4 again as it will be only a few days before Christmas and I want to be home with my boys. Although I'll only have DH at home with us this time but he'll be off work for about 3-4 weeks.

I had my 4th baby by c/s on a Thursday morning, and I went home on Saturday morning.

I felt fine and was glad to get out of there.

Perhaps I got offered the early discharge because a) it was a public hospital (RPA in Sydney) and b) I was doing pretty well physically and was just on panadeine. The only reason I stayed was to be absolutely sure the breastfeeding was working.

I guess it will be about four days I'd hoped to get out sooner to be back with my little DD and to get away from the call bell in the hospital which kept me awake the whole five nights last time

My bfs sister had an elective caesarean about 10 weeks ago, and only stayed for 2 nights. It was her 2nd child (2nd via caesarean as well) and didn't want to be in there for days and days.

I had an "elective" caesarean (not by choice though). I had her on Monday morning, and was begging to go home Friday morning. Apparently that was classed as "early discharge" as well... I dunno why, but it was.

    Hi

I just had my second c-section. This wasnt an elective but also wasnt an emergency! I was seen in clinics when I was three days overdue and they told me I needed a section that day.

DD2 was born at 5pm on the Tuesday evening and I went home Friday morning. So three nights and that was plenty. I would have actually been fine to have left earlier but they still had to do the Heel prick test, babys weight etc so it was just easier to stay.

With both of my c/s's (one public, one private) I stayed 5 days. But in both cases I probably could have gone home a day or two earlier, except that both times we had feeding issues we were trying to sort out.

with the second one especially, I could have coped well had I gone home after 3 days.
