    Default Foam or spring mattress?

Which is better? What should I get?

    What has been your experiences?

    Thanks!

when i was buying a matress the guy basicaly said if its for his bedroom and he will be using it every night then dont get a foam matress they arnt that safe, or breathable?

he could be talking rot to get better sales, but i was more interested in a inner spring matress rather than a foam one anyways i find they are more comfy, i hate sleeping on any foam matress.

i was buying the matress for my older ds who is 3
i think a spring matress you can buy for a couple hundred $$ and it should last for a long while, i got mine for $199 on sale, he told me it should last until hes around 10. a foam matress i dont see lasting that long it might go a bit yuk by then but you can buy matress protectors, i got mine from the hospital.

How long will your toddler be on a cot mattress for?

I bought a foam mattress for DS as it was more comfortable. It was only needed for 2 years as you need to buy a new mattress for each child.

Its personal preference really. They say foam can go out of shape- mine didnt have enough time to .

ETA: I dont think you are meaning cot sized, I'm sorry . We bought DS an innerspring single mattress with double sided pillowtop. It is very comfortable, and still has plenty of support for a little persons' growing body.

Hmmm I didn't know you are supposed to change the mattress every 2 years....

I was thinking of getting a cot mattress for either the toddler bed or having a spare one near my bed.
The foam one seemed softer but I wasn't sure whether spring one was better - or why....

i dont think she meant a new mattress every 2 yrs- i think she meant that your supposed to have a new mattress for every child, ie not have a used mattress
