Babies sleep...

My 4mth old DS is sleeping in the living room in his bassinet during the day his sleeps great expect for when my brother wakes up (brother works night shift so is home in the day) and talks, bubs always wakes up to the noise of my brothers voice as his not really use to male voices (no father around) and as we all no a males voice is very deep and loud.

So my question is during the day do you sleep ur bubs around noise? talking, t.v, music etc. or do u put them in a quiet room.

During the day my dd seeps in the lounge room while I study most of the time there is some sort of back ground noise tv , radio etc

dd has always been a pretty good sleeper and noise doesnt bouther her shes fallen asleep at the drag races (yes ear muffs drained some noise but not all)

Im sure over time your ds will have no problem sleeping while noise is around him its just one of thoes things children get use to maybe to start off with just leave the telly on really soft so when your brother talks its not such a scare as his been hearing noise from the start of his nap iykwim

I did because he did... I'd let him sleep in the lounge while I fluffed around doing stuff.. TV on etc... but he slept well with that and always has... (I show off to people by yelling really close to his face when he's asleep

)

BUT my friend wanted this for her son as well but her son is a lighter sleeper, so he'd wake up to the sound of a pin-dropping, no matter how many times she though she'd try to condition him into sleeping with noise, he wouldn't do it - he simply needs the silence.

Both DS and DD sleep through lots of noise. During the day they have both slept in the living area. Although DS does sleep in his room too, mainly to stop DD poking him in his sleep!

I agree with Seek, it depends on the baby.

I've had both of mine sleep with normal daily noise, both during the day and at night, and Luka sleeps like a log, you can pick him up and throw him around and he doesn't wake up. Felix wakes up if you tiptoe past him.

Some people, and of course babies, are lighter sleepers than others. I put Felix down for his nap behind a closed door now.

Yep depends on baby etc.

Boof i used to send to sleep my vacuuming & on weekends we would be using power tools etc due to renovating & he would sleep through no dramas. He did get fussier so to speak when he got towards 2yrs but i think that was because he was dropping the day sleep.

G couldnt sleep downstairs because of Boof & his noise it was a nightmare. So he goes up to bed & is pretty good really because the noise still carries up the stairwell. He just hates loud noises as they freak him out which is why he often wont sleep when out but will doze if we are lucky.

My DD sleeps downstairs with me during the day with the tv, the phone, the dog barking etc and none of it wakes her, but as soon as she hears my DH voice she wakes up and looks for him. I think it is because it is a familure voice but not one that she gets to hear all day cause he is at work IYKWIM. I wonder if it is the same for your DS, your brothers voice is familure but not one that he hears all the time so it is interesting to him.

Whatever the reason I dont think you should be worried about it, as everyone has said all bubs are different just like all adults are too.

By the way your DS is just adorable, you must be one proud mummy!

My DD is the lightest sleeper!! She always has been, so I usually make sure she's in her room with the door closed for her sleeps, while everyone tiptoes around the house and whispers to each other

Aww thank you! and yes im very proud! love him so much.

To everyone else.... Thank you for all ur replys.

I am now going to put my DS upstairs for his naps, see if that helps him sleep longer.

I usually leave Rory out in the lounge in the mornings, but have started put her in the bedroom with the curtains closed in the afternoons. Its works out ok because Jasmine has been having a nap at the same time. They do need at least one nap a day undisturbed I think, but then again if they're tired enough they will sleep through anything.
