The BMI limit at Armadale was 34 *I think*. If you were over that you had to go to King Edward just because the beds are only made to support a certain weight.

Interesting to hear that about SJOG!! (and relieving)

Casey Hospital in Berwick has a weight limit, Im not sure what though. And if SJOG in WA has a weight limit of 120kgs, does that mean the other SJOG's will too?

if it is an emergency they will assess, assist and then transfer as necessary. they won't refuse to let you in the door.

Hmm but if you are too heavy for a bed.. What then?

I can totally understand that there would be weight restrictions based on the beds. That seems fair.

. It must be difficult, especially as some women who already are a little large can put on a significant amount of weight during thier pregnancy. What happens then? If they aren't over the cut off weight at the beginning of pregnancy, but are by the time bub is due

I was like 94kgs a few months ago, and Im now 30 weeks and weigh 100kgs! I nearly died when I saw that on the scales, however it is all baby and boobs and that, not excess fat. But it does make me wonder because I wouldnt have been refused before. Im worried now, particualry seeing as Im going to SJOG in Berwick. Its the closest hospital to us!

It cannot be at all easy.
But again... If the bed can't support them surely they would rather go somewhere that has safe beds.
Wouldn't want a bed to break with you and bub in it!
