Default Piles/ Hemorrhoids I NEED HELP!! (might be TMI for some)

    well..here goes my dignity

i have had Hemorrhoids since before elise was born (so while i was pregnant) ive had it for about 16mths now (i know not a pretty thought) and nothing i do can get rid of them. ive been to the drs about it and all she does is gets me to use that rectonole (sp?) cr@p from the chemist, yet when i speak to other ppl about it they tell me they get something prescribed from their dr and their problem is gone within a week or so, where as rectonole is only over the counter stuff and i still have the problem!!! honeslty every toilet visit is like child birth (this said in not too scared about the the next birth i have lol)

i think im ready to get myself a new dr!! what do u think i should do?
ive also been told (by other woman not the dr) to take plenty of salty baths but thats impossible as we dont have a tub, just a shower recess!

all / any help is totally appreciated!

    thanks in advance, tanni

Before DD I used to work in a pharmacy and had many customers get an ointment called Proctosedyl, which apparently works wonders. It's a steriod/anaesthetic ointment, and I think it's (from memory) around $20.
I'm pretty sure you can now just buy it over the counter after speaking to the pharmacist about it.Also if your pregnant I don't think you can use it.
Good luck! Oh and increase your fibre intake if you aren't already.
