Default Just after some Parental Opinions

DS is sick, we both havent been able to kick this flu we got on around 26th of June he got it..and has remained, but stayed with an occassional cough, and runny nose here and there.

Loss of appetite, the doctor a while ago, said not to be concerned as it can drag out a bit..

Well it is now August, so he has been sick, not really bad the whole time, but still been sick for 7 weeks now, and yesterday arvo, started getting it back bad, watery eyes, runny nose and chesty cough.

Now I thought it might be allergies, so I gave him some Polarimine (as he was prescribed it and I was advised from the doctor if he got reactions to administer it), and yet it made no difference, so I am guessing its not allergies..

He keeps telling me he is hungry, yet when I give he food he barely touches it...

As a parent, would you opt to put him on vitamins, or start toddler formula to give him a vitamin boost that he isnt getting from his diet, cos he's not eating.

We are going to the doctors this arvo, but I will more than likely be told there is nothing they can really do AGAIN.. as Kids are hard to treat.

    So what would you do??

7 weeks is an aweful long time to have 'just the flu'.... When he isnt sick I'm getting him a flu injection. Being at Kindy I think he needs it.

But his immune system or whatever it is we have just wont budge....

Anyone else experienced this, what happened?? Or what is your opinion in regards to extra vitamins...

Could he be teething? Might explain the hungry but not wanting to eat.

Also he could have a secondary infection flairing up (maybe tonsilitis which might also explain the hungry but not wanting to eat).

Good luck at the doctors this afternoon. Hope your get your answers.

When DS2 was cutting his molars and had an nasty ear infection on top of that, he wasn't eating much at all. The doctor suggested giving him Incremin. It's Iron and few other things and it helps to boost their appetite too. Might be worth asking about?

Ask the doctor while you're there Hope the poor guy (and you!) is feeling better soon.

    Hi,

DS has been on antibiotics for several weeks and didn't seem to be getting any better with lingering coughs and runny nose.

We saw a dr & she prescribed for ds a ventalor (puffer), she didn't diagnose ds as being an asthmatic. We put the puffer in one end of this plastic inhaler bubble we got from the chemist and press the puffer a couple of times and ds breathes it in.

I also took ds to a naturopath she gave ds fish oils (liquid form) to take each day, I just put it into either ds milk or juice. Also "breath easy" powder to take when sick to help chest congestion and "flora" probiotics to assist ds due to antiobiotics.

My ds has had a cough & runny nose recently for the last 3 weeks which we haven't been able to shake so he is on all of the above stuff at the moment including antibiotics.

Even when ds is well we still give him the fish oils and the flora probiotics and when he is sick we up the fish oil quantity and add the breath easy powder.

I hope you able for find some help for your little one!
