Question just to clear my mind!!

    hi all,

my wife has mentioned so much about this site i just had to get on and see for myself.
now with this being our first child we are going through everything for the first time which is very nerve racking.
am really asking what other couples or parents have done to ease their mind while going through the first weeks of waiting and waiting!!
we've had the typical bleeding at 6 weeks and had a scan, whcih im sure you've all read, now we are waiting for all the other syptems you hear about.

Very nerve racking and im just the father i can now understand what you mothers must go through considering its insdie you!!

Well any number of tips to help me calm down would be helpful.

    thanks

The amazing thing about pregnancy, is that everyone's experiences can be remarkably different.

You have had your initial scan....something that most of us won't get until about 12 weeks unless there is a problem. Its now a case of waiting for the bun to cook.

As you will see from this forum, your wife may get morning sickness...then she may not. She may get piles (nice thought I know !!!!!!), she may not etc.

However hard it is, and however much you will panic over things that you may read or experience.....just go with the flow. Get a good OB, tell her to eatwell, exercise in moderation and take her folate!

Oh, and never forget...she's is carrying precious cargo and needs a lot of love and attention too....but not smothering or else the carving knife may come out. (my own psychotic mood swings are coming through here loud and clear aren't they?) She's pregnant.....NOT poorly.

Oh, Oh, and something else....nookie is not forbidden...really!!!! My husband has not really got his head round that!!!! So long as you have the heads up from your doc, enjoy each other as you did before!!!!!

Soz, if I have waffled. Enjoy the next amazing few months. any problems and you will find a whole wealth of information and support on this forum.

    Good Luck.

    thanks for that response

i know its all different for everyone!!!

i guess we just sit and wait and watch the bread rise in the oven there.

its exciting thing to know that one day, that little sac inside my wife will also be going through this.

thanks and please keep the tips coming.

yeah as mentioned just go with the flow, as much as we would love to ensure our babies are fit and healthy it really is out of our hands. your wife will get tired, may get morning sickness which for me feels like waking up hung over EVERY DAY, ALL DAY!!! she will prob go right off food she has normally loved. both my preg i went right off meat. and vegies.
if there is more bleeding obstain from sex and dont let her carry anything heavy. (im a bleeder too so i know how scary it can be)
most of all enjoy the journey
ps. i think you are so sweet, caring so much.

    * well be a supportive as you can
    * try to understand
    * make sure you experience this pregancy too IYKWIM
    * enjoy every special moment, like the bubs first movement

And when the bubs is born remember above everything and everyone else,

From Dancing Girls posts in the Due in December thread you are a very supportive husband so just keep doing what your doing

Oh another thing, be honest about how you are feeling. We women do understand that even though the physical things are happening to us the whole experience affects you as well. But well sometimes we get caught up in ourselves and forget how you must be feeling - so tell us

    Smile Some more tips

    Hi dh_of_dancing_girl

I too had bleeding at 6 weeks, it scared my poor DH and I so much as this is our first pregnancy also! We went for the ultrasound and were told it was all OK too.
It's just counting the weeks until you officially enter the "safe" zone that takes forever, I completely empathise. We felt the same!

As mentioned earlier, just make sure she takes it easy, no heavy lifting or running marathons etc etc. My moods were a bit all over the place in that first trimester-i
(wasn't nice for my poor DH! Give her lots of hugs and reassurance she'd OK,it's just hormones.

I'm 36 weeks now, and so far so good.

All the best to both of you and your little bun

    Hi dh_of_dancing_girl!

wow....the waiting game time will actually slow down - even more than it did for you as a kid waiting for your birthday! It's like watching a kettle waiting for it to boil......all you can do is amuse yourself in other things (though from experience I know this is very difficult!) and the sleepless nights will be with you before you know it

I am 31 1/2 weeks and it feels like it has taken forever to get here and I've got forever to go......

Sounds like you are doing excellently! I wish my husband were as interested as you are! But he is an old fogie !

thanks alot ladies for the reassuring words of encouragement!!!

now to find out what my wife has been typing about me!!

i always comfort her now and i know it will be like this the whole time. she is beautiful now and i make sure she knows that.

but it is a waiting game and most of the books i have read also state most of the symptoms she, as well of most of you, are having.

thanks again and i will be on from time to time so dont hesitate to answer some of my threads.
