    Default Giving bubs water

Hello all, my lil Sebastian is 5 weeks old and he will absolutely at any time not take water. I've tried it luke warm and cooled but he will not take it, he pushes it away and makes a sour face!

The midwives and child health nurse reccomended that he have it inbetween feeds cool boiled.

Hes been a bit restless lately and i was thinking maybe he has a belly ache because he has'nt been drinking any water? Do i need to give it to him is that why he has a belly ache?

    Hope someone can help!
    Silvia and Cos welcome

Its not really necessary to give newborns water, they should be getting all the fluids they need trough b/milk or formula. i wouldn't worry about it unless he gets dehydrated or constipated maybe his belly ache is from trapped wind hope this helps

How come they recommended you give it to him? Is it because he is looking for more feeds??

I gave Deacon 20mls the other day, but that was because he had a really sore throat and it was helping him sooth it between feeds. My midwife always told me that they didn't need extra water, even when on bottles unless they were refusing feeds due to illness etc.
