    Default Adenoids

I had my adenoids removed when I was 4, and I'm wondering if my 10month old DD could have a problem as well.

At night and when she's extra tired she makes a noise in the back of her throat/nose/ears (where it all kind of joins deep in the top of the neck). Its a really nasal sound that doesn't stop. Kind of like a grunt/groan but not really
I have a feeling her adenoids could be enlarged and am thinking of going to see a doctor. I've heard of babies as young as one having them removed. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, but the noise can wake her up at night, and it definately keeps me awake.

Has anyone had this operation on their children/babies?

Try and get a referral to an ENT specialist. My DD1 who is 4 is due to get her Tonsils and Adenoids out soon due to tonsillitis. Our ENT specialist said that they only really take them out if there are signs of sleep apnoea or reoccurance of tonsilitis (4 times or more in 1 year).

They might want to do a sleep study on her (an overnight stay at a sleep study place) to confirm the problem before they give the go ahead.
