    Question No Weight Gain...???

Hi i'm currently about 14 weeks pregnant with my first child. I haven't put on any weight and im starting to worry that something is wrong? I haven't had any pains, bleeding etc to suggest a miscarriage but i dunno it just feels like theres nothing going on in my tummy?! (besides nausea!)
My sister (Aged 21.5) is about 5 months pregnant and she is really showing! By the time she was at my stage (14weeks) she had put on 8kgs. She is having a boy, and she thinks that i must be having a girl if i havent put on any weight yet (but i thought that was just an old wives tale?) I am about 54 kgs and have been that weight for years. So i'm nor underweight, nor overweight.
When did you girls start to show??

Well the scales arent going up, and everyone says i still look the same weight. I have only thrown up once. But, with that said, im not eating as much as what i used to. I used to love huge meals for dinner and lunch (piggy me! ) But now i can only face small snacks like butter and vegemite sao's! I would say i have also decreased my saturated fat intake (due to feeling sick at the thought of touching hot food! e.g maccas lol)

I didn't start gaining weight with either pregnancy until 18 weeks. By 14 weeks I think they say you should have gained about 1-2kg if that. I wouldn't be worried at all. Gaining 8kg by 14weeks is a pretty extreme amount so I wouldn't use that as any sort of comparison.

Thanks! Yeah my sister was fair skinny to start with.... our mum reckons it was the baby saying she needed more fat on her! She hardly ever ate before the baby was conceived due to problems at work... made her a bit sad. Guess she just felt happier and hungrier when she got pregnant!!!

I didn't put on any weight till I was 20weeks. From 20weeks to 28weeks I put on 4kg then from 28-40weeks I put on an additional 23kg!!! It was horrible!!

I wouldnt worry about not putting on any weight yet! 14weeks is still very early

With my first pregnancy I started gaining straight away - purely my fault! I ended up gaining 20kg in my 31 weeks of pregnancy but had mass fluid retention from Pre-eclampsia

With my second I gained nothing until 24 weeks and ended up gaining 6kg over the next 11 weeks (DD was born at 35 weeks) and again had massiveeeeee fluid retention from hypertension.

This time I didn't start gaining until about 20 weeks and have gained 6kg so far (thats in 10 weeks as I'm almost 30 weeks now) but I've got gestational diabetes so am on a very strict diet so have been told to expect to lose about 5kg over the next fortnight. People have been joking that having GD and going on the diet means 'losing your baby weight before you have the baby'

Anyway... everyone is different and all pregnancys are different. At 14 weeks I certainly wouldnt worry about not gaining anything, the baby and every thing else in there weighs hardly anything anyway at this stage so I think it would be much more worrying if you'd gained more than say 2kg in that time (and even that is a lot considering what it would all weigh at 14 weeks)

If you are still concerned at your next checkup mention it to your doctor though they will reassure you if we havent helped!

    I'm 28 weeks and I've put on 7 or 8 kg.
At your stage I'd only put on 1 kg or so I think.

And only in the last few weeks have I stopped looking fat and more looking pregnant

Firstly thanks for reminding me to weigh myself. I have two due dates, one is today, one monday. So you might aswell say i am full term and i have gained 10 kilos all up. Iam bigger, was 84 when i fell pregnant, got gastro and a bit of morning sickness around the 5-8 week stage dropped down to 80 and am now just 90. but i sat at 80 until i was around 20 weeks then put on 4 kilos, when i was about 30 weeks i had put on another 2 and only now got to the 90. I feel very lucky. However in saying that hubby has said right from the start that i have slimmed elsewhere, like the butt and its gone to bubby,i didnt believe him til he pointed out that i am now constantly pulling up pants that were a snug fit this time last year Yep....thats how big my baby bump is,people dont believe i am ready to go any day now and i still fit in all my normal clothes, barring my fitted collared dressy tops. I love being pregnant.....
