Default Tell us about your house

do you find everyone is on top of each other all the time? or do you have a big enough house?

how many do you have in a bedroom, are they big rooms?

we have 4 bedrooms and a study
we have a tv room and the main kitchen lounge room
the 2 kids share a room, we have a spare room for guest and the kids have a toy room
the tv room is used manily by the kids for there dvds and the playstation as we don't have a tv areial in there yet
we have 2 bathrooms one is an ensuite

This is much different to how i grew up we had small lounge room and kitchen and 3 bedrooms which were small so didn't get much privacy
and the housw was always cold as mum use to clos the door to the hall so the only room which was warm was the lounge room

but yes we do have space which is great as i never did growing up

    Oh, don't I wish??
We have lots of yard, which is why we bought our place, but the house kinda sucks, lol.
We have 3 bedrooms and a sunroom we use as bed 4, so we have eldest in sunroom, 2 older girls in next bed (both of these are off the lounge room, major pain at bed time...) 2 youngest in together, not ideal, but no where else to put them at the moment, and us in end bedroom.
Only one living area, and small area off kitchen has extra fridge/freezer and computer.
One bath, seperate loo across the hall, most of the house is in some state of renovation....so far we have relined 4 rooms, replaced 2 other doorways, refloored the dining room and put in a new kitchen. Only 3 more rooms to fix up! Then I'll have to paint it all!! Will be good when it is finished, and I can put tenants in it and move back to Victoria and a 5 bed place....can't wait!

Technicly our house is 5 BR but my parents use two of those-one as a lounge room. So i have my 2 boys share and my two girls share.I think their rooms are plenty big enough, any bigger and theyd just hoard more ****.The new bub will be in with us for a while and then i guess we'll be buying bunks for either the boys or girls bedroom!! We have a games room central in our house that has a pool table,tv, playstation etc for the kids. I have my own lounge room too but most evenings we all watch tv together in there. We have a good sized yard which is well equiped and utilised in the summer but i have to say during winter i dont think any house would be big enough!
Hmm.. oh of course we have a kitchen and dining room, bathroom and ensuite off our bedroom. When we found out we were expecting we were a little concerned about what to do with bub, but if worst comes to worst and 3 to a room wont work it looks like my lounge will become another b/r!
I dont get much privacy from my mum,(drives poor DH round the bend) but youd never know my dad lived here. When there not here they'll be plenty of room.

at the moment we have a 5 bedroom, eldest and youngest have their own room, the 12&10 share, as do the twins, we have the front lounge (kids area really, and clothes room, then the what would be dinin area is full of junk, the family area I guess you would say is where our table is, then the games room for the pc's and main lounge.

its on the smaller side, but we dont find we are really under each others feet al too much, as the kids kinda have their space.

but we are looking at buying, and from what we see in our price range, its not going to be a 5bed! and possibly less living area..

we are thinking as long as the living area is big, and the bedrooms not too bad, we could get away with a 3, (But MUST have 2 toilets, one bathroom is ok) then I'll have the three eldest in 1 room, the three youngest in the other, even though the three younger consist of twin boys and a girl, could get away with it for 2-3 years till we can add on I guess.

do you think its wrong for boys and girl to share? the twins are 7, and shes 4. lots of nights she sleeps in their room with them anyway

We have a 4br with a study and a little sort of study area which when i get my cupboard built, will be a craft room.

OVerall i am happy with the room the kitchen is small but its open as the dining areas is off it so it feels roomy and we have a huge table there, plus i can open the doors and have it open plan to see the lounge or shut them, depending on my mood

The bedrooms, they are pretty big, you could fit 3 singles or 3 sets of bunks in 2 of them, in my room you could nearly put 4 sets if you set them up right, the other bedroom is more a 2 single bed style room though (eventually two of the kids will share this as its bigger and i figure they share they can have it) Its more storage for me, i mean i have two linen cubpards but i am saving and building shelving etc for the rooms plus i plan to get bunks and a trundle so i have a spare. Overall i mean we are lucky we have the space really or the room to double up in bedrooms. There used to be 12 kids that lived here with the parents so its do-able, the people before had ten kids so yeah they manage we can LOL just hope they dont jinx me i dont need ten kids! We have the shed lined and decked out as a play area too and plan to cover in the back courtyard and have that as a extra family room one day. For $120k i aint complaining, its cheap its a nice house and well really its just cosmetic that it needs, a coat of pain etc which i will do when my kids are out of the hands over walls stage!!

We've got a 4br, 2 toilet, 1 bath house... kitchen, dining room (both small), lounge and bedrooms all upstairs... rooms are quite large - front room (DD1) used to be master bedroom, so big enough to double up kids when we need to... back room is smallest, for bub when she's ready to leave our bed, currently using it as a guest room, but it's not really big enough for the QS bed! DS' room is about standard bedroom size - he has a bunk bed, desk, and bookshelf (with built in wardrobe - that makes all the difference to a room size, I think!!)

Downstairs the kids have a rumpus room, and we carpeted the garage (where my brother and his kids are going to be... another long story - and bl@#y cold down there ATM!), laundry and toilet (we can convert laundry to bathroom if needed, and move laundry outside)... I also have a scrap room inside the front door - it's a small room that we were storing "stuff" in, better to have me in there than all across the dining table

I love my house!!!!! It has 7 bedrooms, 2 large living areas, a playroom, big kitchen, a really big patio and an acre of yard for the kids to play. It's my dream house. It's just a pity it dose not have any walls or roof yet. He still building it, on weekends and after work when he can. But for now it's a double garage. I can touch the table from my bed. Comfort three of the kids without leaving the bed (as there beds touches ours ). To get to the freezer you have to move the table. I am always tripping on something or someone. Oh well, it will be great when the house is built. For now its "go outside to play kids" so mummy dose not lose the plot. Sometimes I think I have already.
Is blessed to have 6 wonderful kids.

We have a 4 brm 2 bath with a large kitchen/family room which is for the kids mainly and then a lounge/dining room that we use although being winter we are all in the family room because that is where the wood heater is. We have DS1&2 in bunk beds and DS3 has his own room at he moment then when bub arrives he/she will be in with us for the first 6 months then if it's a boy probably share with DS2 or if it's a girl we may lose the spare/toy room which is directly off the family room and the eldest 2 will share that but that is the only room without built in robes. We also have a 1.6 acre back yard so plenty of room to kick the kids outside to play.

We are lucky and found this place it is plenty big enough for us and there was only supposed to be 3 kids so a room each eventually but we may convert the garage into two more rooms so we can have a guest room.

CJJHRA, I don't have a problem with both sexes sharing when they are younger, once they start highschool it's different. My kids have done the sharing merri go round in different houses, and still share when we have guests or things like that. My youngest 2 are diff sexes and they share currently, though once we move the navy will give us a 5 bed house and they will be apart again.
