    Default my little vent!!!!!

    this person that I know,

she has just had her baby, and he is perfect, very cute, born 3 days overdue, weighs 9.8pounds, which is a big boy, he is really perfect though.

Mind you she had a trouble free pregnancy!

And then there is me, who has gestational diabetes, my kids like to, for no known reason pop out earlier than normal, like 32/40 and 36/40.

All my kids are fine too, but I stopped smoking, stopped drinking, (excuse me, in both pregnancies I had one west coast on my birthday)

This friend, smokes like a chimney, more than I do normally, and did not even attempt to cut back.

She also drank a bourbon and coke can every friday and saturday night!!

We had a big thing about the smoking a drinking a little while ago, and I said to her, its not worth the risk to smoke and drink, enough things can happen on there own, and to me 9 months out of your life to give your baby the best chance is nothing.

Now that she has had her second perfect baby, she has rubbed it in my face, and thinks that the reason I have early babies and other problems is due to the stress of not smoking, she said, sure cut back if you want but just have one if you want!!!

So that is my vent about someone that rubs me the wrong way with just about every thing possible!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to her now I really do feel like a smoke!!!!!!! and wont have one.

Glad to hear you won't smoke. I really don't understand how anyone does it yuck (of course I know, addiction! But it has to start somewhere).

Unfortunately, your friend isn't going to listen. She sounds very stubborn. Her baby was fine. Yes, dumb luck! Many are not fine who have mother's (AND fathers!) who smoke.

It doesn't end at pregnancy. There is still an increased chance of sids for her poor bub and children of parents who smoke are more likely to smoke themselves. So she's not in the clear just yet.

Yes it is a dumb habit, but I was silly enough to pick it up somewhere before I had any brains, and the it was too hard to stop.

I will try not to take it up though.

My mum who doesnt smoke now, smoke all through me and my sister and brother, and we were all fine, and still are all fine, however, she said and has always said, that the info around now about it, was not really there then, and if it was she wouldnt have done it.

Your doing the right thing for your kids and thats whats really important. Good for you that you gave up such a selfish and disgusting habit. My grandfather died of emphasema (sp) earlier this year after 50+ years of smoking. I loved him but i still feel that its extremely selfish habit, my nan, mum and the rest of the family miss him so much but because of his smoking he left us before his time.

Remember your kids and the rest of your family will benefit from you being strong and staying away from the cigarettes.

She just got lucky thats all!! who knows weather there will be health problems latter on in life for her kids I wouldnt risk it. But rather than look at it like this Look at what you have got and at what YOU have done It takes a strong willed and good person to give up things for there babies Us mums are made tough Not only that if you continue not to smoke you will probably get to meet your great grandkids

Obviously your friend is very selfish and her priorities are more on her needs and not bubs needs.

Sadly, even tho thankfully both babies are ok now, "what goes around comes around" and she will want to hope that as her kids get older they dont suffer the consequences of her smoking and drinking.

Very sad really, but you should pride yourself in knowing that even tho your bubs arrived early, you did everything in your power to create healthy bubs.

i never had a drink when pg.. but i smoked alot...
im going to guess that her reaction is one more of relief..
i feared nothing more then that my babies would be harmed... everyday.. but i still smoked...

thankfully the baby is ok.. can you imagine how awful it would have been for everyone if that wasnt the case...

its not fair... but would you want the babies to suffer for what their mothers did?.. its not the babies choice..
