I have no idea about cats, mine have always been desexed before I got them from the pound.

I dont know if she would be getting fat in a week or not, I honestly couldnt say,

but, my guess is if she is pregnant, she will get fatter soon, and you will know soon enough.

I dont know when you plan to get her desexed, but Id wait a few weeks and see if you think she is or not, or you could go to the vet and ask them??

    but Id just wait.

The gestation period for a cat is only about 2 months, so you will know for sure soon enough. You won't be able to feel any kittens until at least half of that time has passed but be very careful if you are palpating her tummy.

I know $195 seems like a lot of money for her to be desexed but the cost of raising kittens will run much higher than that if you don't have her desexed.

A female cat has an oestrus cycle lasting about 7 days and if she doesn't become pregnant in that time she will continue cycling like this every 2-3 weeks until she does become pregnant.
So you see, keeping a cat that is not desexed WILL result in kittens sooner or later and then more kittens and then more kittens......

A vet may be able to tell if she is pregnant but maybe not just yet. Another two weeks will make the difference.

You could ring a vet and ask them whether it is worth coming in just yet or waiting to see.

Im sure if you took her to the vet and asked if they could tell you if she was or she was not, Im sure they could help you.

but why bother if you will be able to tell in 2 weeks or so, going by funkychickens post.

Id just keep her in and wait.

If you don't want kittens, then take her to the vet anyway...it will cost you a bit more, but if she is in kitten, it's only just, and the vet can still desex her and terminate the pregnancy...not a nice thought, but neither is having to take a bunch of kittens to the RSPCA that you can't find homes for....

does she seem to be getting alot friendlier?
And do her teats seem any bigger or does she react if you touch them?
Even if shes sleeping in spots she doesnt usually sleep in could be an indication shes pregnant.
My cat also used to eat more too as had babies to feed, but if you dont want kittens get her desexed asap, cause they can fall pregnant again straight after having kittens.
