Breastfed babies and children gain weight less quickly than formula fed infants, so when we are using growth charts to check our babies weight gains its important to use the right one.

Below are the links for the growth percentile charts as advocated and recommended by WHO (World Health Organisation)


GIRLS
Birth - 6 months
6 months - 2 years
2 years - 5 years

BOYS
Birth - 6 months
6 months - 2 years
2 years - 5 years

I stil think them growth charts suck as well as DD is stil NO where near any of the percentiles

hi, just check the charts against my bf DS weight...his jumped out of the chart?!
he is 22 weeks old now and a week ago i weighed him and he was 8.5 kg...
is it normal?!!!

I agree these charts sucks. My bub is BF and is on the 3rd centile. It's upsetting knowing that she is not thriving as well as other bubs in these charts. But she is hitting all the milestones, is a happy baby and sleeps really well.

i think there is far too much emphasis put on meeting certain percentiles etc.

i think the most important thing is that your baby is healthy and happy.

by any measures my baby is above all the charts...but my friends baby is at the bottom.

both of us have been told that our babies are perfectly healthy.

we would all like to know that our babies tick all the developmental boxes, but unfortunately all babies are different and do everything in their own time.

if we spend all our time worrying about what our babies are achieving we may actually miss out on just watching them be them!
