    Default Did exercise prevent tears

Right - all you ladies that have had babies can you tell me if you did any of the recommended exercises to prevent tears/rips etc.

If yes did it work? Or are there some of you out there that didn't do a thing and still didn't tear?

Looking forward to hearing your responses both good and bad

I did pelvic floor exercises all through my pregnancy, I've been doing them since I was 12 and my Aunty had her baby but I definitely paid more attention when I was pregnant!

I tore internally, but not perineally, and was back to normal very quickly iykwim.

I do them all the time with this baby aswell, every time I sit down or have a shower or eat something or go for a walk. It's how I remember to do them lol

I was really slack with my PF exercises in both pregnancies but did play sport up until 5 months prg with DD. Just walked occasionally with DS and didnt tear with eiither.

Mind you, I wish I had prior to DS and am madly exercising now. Sneezing is scary immediately after labour if the PF muscles aren't toned and ready to go! If we have another, I will be making sure I am a PF muscle nazi with exercise!!

Yes, perineal massage and birthed on all fours and asked not to be coached into pushing.

    No tearing.

Im slack on the PF exercises, but towards the end of my pregnancies I have been doing the almond oil massage on the perinium and vaginal area. LOL As i say to hubby i oil up, play with my self lol then cream up (rub cream into my stomach to help with stretchies)

I have had 2 vaginal births, one on my back one delivered on my knees, both kids flew outa me weighing 5 lb 15 oz and 6 lb 12 oz. Neither kid was caught both fell and landed on the bed. No tears just a few minor grazes.

Im aiming for another easy tear free delivery. But thats all i did

If Motherhood was so easy, then why does it begin with a word like LABOUR????
