Default Babies born at 36 wks

Well my dr thought i wouldnt make it past 35 wks. Im now 36 wks tomorrow. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But what i want to know is what are the risks involved in him coming now? I really dont think hes far off.

I had Luke at 36 wks 5days. Hes wasnt breathing at birth and was needing assistance for about 24 hrs after birth as his o2 levels kept dropping. But from what i could tell this was either cos he swallowed the fluid or it probably would have been the same outcome having been born at term.

I have a drs appoint tomorrow. But well my dr can be a bit of a at times lol. Hes a great dr, butI dont always see eye to eye.

I live in a small country town that dont take babies with complications. Iv been told that chances are if there are any complications he would ahve had them regardless of being born 36 or 37 wks. Possbily even term.

Has anyone had an early 36 wker, what issues did u have? How long was ur and bubs hsoptial stay?

Hey my bubs was born at 35.5 so neally 36, Most babies born at that stage do realy well, and may need some o2 and under the lights for a coule of days (even some ful termers require that) Mine unfortunately didnt do that wel however she would have had problems no mater when she was born

Hey my baby boy was born 12 days ago at 36 weeks. He was fine when born and even got to stay in the labour ward for a few hours with us. No breathing problems or anything. The only problem with him is that he is not feeding so he is still in hospital. He was born 5lb 1oz and it very small and gets too tired to feed. He is fed via nasogastric tube at the moment, we hope to have him home soon

DD was born at 36w3d - no complications, no breathing problems and she came home with me on day 3

We were very lucky but it's really impossible to predict. Even some babes born at 38 or 39 weeks may have problems just because the lungs are one of the last things to be ready.

Generally though a 36 weeker shouldn't have too many dramas. GL

    Hi!
DD was born at 36 wks 3 days and she was in the SCN until 37 weeks....so that's around 4 days.I had to give her EBM for a week along with normal breastfeeds, because she was getting tired feeding at the breast, and docs were concerned that she wasn't getting enough. But I switched to only breastfeeds around 3 weeks after she was born,as she got healthier then.No other problems....

My baby girl was born 14 weeks ago at 36 weeks 2 days .

She had some breathing problems and suck reflex problems.

While in Hospital when we tried to breast feed she'd get too tired to feed so she was on a nasalgastric tube she had 3 hourly blood test to check her sugar levels as well as other montiors and drips
We were in hospital for 6 day's she came up on ward twice for hour visits and only actually got to stay with me the night before we got to come home.

She still now has some health problems but that could of happend if she went to full term

    Best of luck with everything

my daughter was born at 35.5 weeks at 6 pounds 6 ounces and she thrived, and even when i went into labour early my maternal instincts told me that everything would be ok. She cried right away and i was the first person to hold her She went on the breast immediately and began vigorous sucking. We went home four days later and she fed like a champ, she had nothing wrong breathing-wise (in fact her cry was a little TOO healthy LOL).

So dont panic, i think if you truly go into labour your doctors will do all they can for you- maybe give you an injection of steroids for bubs lungs, and perhaps your baby will just be ready anyway!!!

Is there complications with ur pregnancy?
Why is it that ur doc thinks you wont make it to term anyway??? You might surprise him and be overdue !

thanks its a bit more reassuring. I had my daughter at 37.6 and my son at 36.5 so they guessed 35 for this one.

On my dates Im 37. 3 today. I know hes going to be ok its just that worry that if the u/s dates are right which is what my dr is going on im 35.6

I had both my other 2 early hrs of the morning with night laoburs so im sorta expecting this again lol.

I have a feeling its gona happen soon. Everything is pointing to it. Im hoping hes not too far off, so over it now, mainly the stress of what if i go early what is going to happen to my baby. I know he is going to be ok. But like every mum you panic and need to know what to expect worse case scenario.
