am i being unreasonable

My ss got his licence we bought him a car he was only to use it for work for a wile then after a wile he could have it. SS decided to take it one night ignoring his fathers request to bring it back turned of his phone.....
The next day he comes over crying Car written off!!!!!
ok hes ok friend in car is ok. (he has trashed 2 mopeds before this incident he was a little younger)

I feel he should be held responsable for his actions after all hes 18 in 4 mths.
so Dp has decided to lend him the 4x4 to use for work thats ok. But he has given it to him 24hrs a day i feel he should be made to ride his pushy (from his mums 2k's away) every morning & drop it off every night NO says DP "he's learnt his lesson".

I think NOT all i think is than he has proved him selk untrust worthy & should not have any privleges untill poven other wise.

The last thing i want is for him to kill him self playing silly buggers in a car to impress friends

My SS is 19 and I've been very strict about cars. DH and I argued alot when he first got his learners. I didn't want him driving either of our cars, so we helped him out to buy his first car when he got his learners so he could learn in his own car not ours. Our 4x4 cost us alot of money and I didn't want him driving it as I thought he should learn that an expensive car is something you need to earn not have handed to you, but of course DH let him drive it the first day he got his learners and the drama started from then on.

So we finally came to an agreement and he bought his first car, then of course crashed it into a parked truck. When he asked to borrow one of our cars for work I said no, I drove him to and from work instead.

There never going to learn responsible if when they stuff up your just going to bail them out every time. A car and even your licence is a priviledge they need to earn. Even if your car is insured your excess for a driver that young is very high not to mention what it would do to your premiums every month. So NO I don't think your being unreasonable at all. Your deffinitely not being a twit, your being realistic.
