Default inductions and Natural Labour question? is is any different?

    Hi Gals,

I've had 2 inductions and would love to go into labour with my 3rd on my own at home..... spend as much time at home... having the whole "oh my god is this it feeling"?

I was wondering if anyone has had the same? On their 3rd or 4th gone into labour on their own and if the labour was better? less intense contractions? A longer labour? as my first was 5 hours and my 2nd was 2 i was wondering if that was because i was induced or should i be expecting a quick labour again? less intense?

    I have.
3 were induced my 4th i went naturally.
My induced labours were better than my natural labor.

They were quick and great labours.
my natural one was long and more painful. i went into labour at 3am and had him at 6 in the evening.

All my inductions were short labours 3hrs and more consistent contractions.

in a way i am glad i got to experience natural labour.
In all honesty i preferred my inductions.
(although i think a naural labour is definatley better for baby, i am so glad that my little Alexander picked his birthday and not me eventhough my labor was way too long)

My first 2 were inductions. The 1st labour lasting for 22hrs, the 2nd lasting 1hr 50mins. My 3rd was a spontaneous labour that was 4hrs.
Its hard to say which I preffered the most (obviously NOT my 1st).
I was thrilled that I did it ALL on my own with #3.
Im hoping that I am lucky enought to go on my own with #4 in December.
All my babies were 10-12days over there EDD too.

mmm well now im not to sure what to expect....*smiles*

I think i would like the natural because i havent experienced but i dont want it to be a longer labour than the first 2. Ive had a taste of a 2 hour labour and dont think i could cope if it ened up being long...... Im hoping to get into the birthing center here in Canberra for a water birth so there will be no iductions if i'm excepted.... only if i have complications ( which i did with the first 2)

mmm it's very interesting.. thanks for your stories..... I have a friend who is having her first and is TERRIFIED of having a induction as she has been told some bad stories.... i try to tell her otherwise......

    Default jess

as long as you stay motivated an move around while in labor that will make contractions work faster an remember to relax it wont help at all if you are tense. if its not medically needed meaning theres a serious problem or you 14 days over then it is better to go natural for both you an baby

I was induced with my first two. DS1 was 7 hours, DS2 was 5 hours.

DS3 I went into labour on my own and laboured for 6 hours.

When I was induced, I found the contractions quite intense from the get go, and with the natural labour, it didn't start feeling that way until the last hour.

I much prefered my natural birth!

I was induced with my first, third and fourth, 17hrs, 9hrs and 10hrs

my second was natrual labour, he was posterior, and I laboured for just over 30hrs, it was less intence than my inducted labours, and it was nice to have contractions that gradually picked up steam, rather than full on labour straight away

Wow Gizzy 30 hours that seems so long..

But i guess going natural and having less intense contractions you can handle it for a londer period of time?? builds up slower??

being induced my contractions seem to hit me hard and fast.... With my second 2 hours--- i was screaming for a epi as i thought i had AGES to go... the MW checked and said it was too late id be pushing within 2-3 good contractions... my daughter was born about 15-20 minues later...... but if i had 30 hours-- even 6 hours of that intense pain i would have died..... and would seriously reconsided having another.. hehehe

I had a half natural half induced labour..lol it stared off by itself but didnt progress so I had the drip and my waters broken. It was hell, the contractions were easy to handle when it was natural but were way more than I could cope with from the drugs. Every labour is different, induced or not, there is no real way to tell how long or painful it will be. I would rather natural over induced any day, especially after reading what drugs like pitocin/syntocinon do to your body and the baby.
