I know it can definately get into babies mouth. Not sure about where else? Can you try to get it treated asap? Otehrwise you may end up with nipple thrush if you breastfeed and the baby gets it orally from the birth canal.

This may sound like a silly question, But I have not had thrush before.. but I am having strange things happen in that area.

Can someone please tell me if there are distincnt symptoms that I should worry about, my doc is a male so I don't feel too comfortable talking to him about it.

When you have thrush it is very itchy, irratable, and sometimes a discharge like cottage cheese!

Its really uncomfortable. It gets very itchy, and very, very irritable. Just like sara said. If you are concerned pop in and see your doctor, he will be able to tell what it is.

I am treating it with a cream and it is working the symptoms are decreasing. I am hoping it is all clear in the next 8 days!!!

Willsmama - I too am also having alot of problems with thrush. I just don't seem to be able to get rid of it. As for baby and labour YES the baby can get thrush in mouth, then you will get nipple thrush. You should be seeking advice to get rid of it before labour and i also believe it is better doctors are aware of problem during labour and i think they are able to do things to prevent you passing it to bub or nipple thrush, but i'm not 100% sure.

The symptoms can be similiar to a UTT infection. This morning i have been to the doctors and they did a urine test on the spot which confirmed I do have a UTT. I have been given antibodics to help this. As for the Thrush most doctors are not too keen on testing for this (requires a swap) and I have found most are happy to advice treatment without testing. The treatments suitable are available at a chemist without a script. You can op for the cream (which needs to be applied twice a day for two weeks, I believe) or you can op of a tablet to insert into you vargina in the evening (but dont use the applicator).. this is a once off treatment. So on doctors advice I'm now treating both this week and hope the problem goes away soon because it is doing NOTHING for my sex life, lol.

    Ok thanks, TMI but...

I have itching, but my discharge is NOT cottage chese like.
Somedays I'm having to change my underwear as often as I change my sanitary liner as sometimes the discharge or leaking is clear like water but has a smell like bleach or amonia.... worse on days when I have been on my feet for a while

Other days discharge has a yellowy tinge.

I also have been cleared for no UTT's,

My OB just rang me and told me that i have moderate thrush. He advised me to use Canasten cream. I am 36 weeks pregnant and Canasten cream is safe to use in the later stages of pregnancy. I have the 3 day course and i intend on using it tonight.

I haven't been itchy but when my OB took the swab, it stung. There is a horrible odur as well but now i know that it is thrush, i will start treating it.
I just feel dirty and horrible when i get it and want to get rid of it quickly.
If you have thrush/B Strep when you are in labour; you will be put on a drip of antibiotics. This is so the baby doesn't contract thrush when he/she is delivered.
Even though i am having a c-sec; i need to get the thrush cleared up in case my waters break because the thrush can pass up into the uterus and the baby can get it.

Its not always like cottage cheese, i don't get that symptom. Maybe your discharge is more to do with you being pregnant. But if its a foul smelling odour i would go and get it checked out by the doctor to rule out anything nasty. I know when i was pregnant i was getting different types of discharge all the time! Ahh the joys of pregnancy!!

But if you are worried get it checked out

I had terrible thrush throughout my pregnancy and also found out I had strep B. I was told to use the tablets that you insert which I did and it seemed to clear up. I had a vaginal birth with antiboitics for the strep B and baby was fine.
Also I think the cream helps the itching but does not clear up the thrush so might want to see what your doc says.
