Its amazing how different grandparents are. Also beside going to the pschycologist, I don't know whether also my mum finds the transition from mum to grandmother hard because I also have a 16yo brother who still needs her to be a mum. On the other hand, I have always complained to my mum that my MIL is very overbearing when we see them, as they live interstate, but already had a grandchild (my SIL's child) and they are older than my parents. My mum isn't a cold grandmother, it is just that she isn't at the other end of the scale like my MIL, and I have realised that finally. I am ok with both sets of my children's grandparents. They just show their love in different ways.

I know how you feel. My DS2 hides from MIL because he has no idea who she is. She's only seen him about 3 times in 12mnths and she lives 5minutes down the road. She drives past here every day to visit SIL and her DD but cant be bothered dropping in to see her grandson
We've given up going there as we're made to feel like we're interrupting or something. DF doesn't seem too phased as he's used to them but I come from a very family orientated family and it annoys the hell out of me.
DS1 11 * DS2 2 * DS3 2
