Only if you think he needs extra. If he is happy and content with your milk than I wouldn't. I started my DS at 5 months and he was very ready. He was fussy at the breast, feeding every hour and wouldnt sleep. He showed all the signs for needing solids and I sought advice from Drs. midwives and child health nurses. Is he content with just BFing? Do you think he NEEDS more?

I agree with Leisa. He sounds like he's healthy just being bf. I started ds at 5 and a half months old, because he was hungry and after talked with gp.

Dd is 7,5 months old and just starting solids. She weighs 7kgs something. When she got hungry more when she was younger, I just offered her more feed.

Maybe talk with the chn, do you see one?

For teething I gave my five month son frozen breast milk cubes, in a mesh feeder.

Maybe it is worth a try?

Sounds like your breastmilk is doing wonders, why change anything?

Wait another month at least imo

is he showing signs that he is ready for food?
every baby is different, and they keep changing the ages.. only 5 years ago it was 4 months old start to feed them.. i get so confused....

im going to go against the grain here, i gave ds some mashed potato the other night and he is only 4 months old... he was fine, and sleep 12 hours

a part of me doesnt want to feed him yet, but i know he is ready for it, he's fully breastfed too....

just make sure you attempt to feed him after he has had his milk... more important then food right now...
    mother of 5

there are a few ways to do anything, but my way is always right.
