GOOD HOME FOR GOOD EGG

Andy and I live on the Northern Beaches in Sydney with Lily, our 6 year old daughter, Meg, our cheeky sausage dog, some fish and a couple of chooks. We have a fabulous community of friends, family and neighbours and would love another child to share our life with.

We’ve been working on it but although we can get pregnant we haven’t been able to get past the first trimester. Chinese herbs, acupuncture, naturopathic remedies and IVF haven’t done the trick. So now after 8 pregnancies since Lily, we know it is time to give up on my dodgy eggs.

Two close friends and my beautiful cousin have offered to be our donors but unfortunately age rules them out.

Andy grew up in Newcastle. After 6 years together in my hometown Melbourne we moved to Manly 14 years ago where I discovered that there was life beyond great cafes, bars and AFL. Andy works full-time as a newspaper sub editor on a great scheme that allows him to work a 4-day week. This gives him plenty of time to spend with us (and enough time to surf, too).

I work part-time as a translator in the film industry, a legacy of my year as a high school exchange student. It is a stimulating and interesting job but being a mum is what I enjoy most. I love cooking and having a house full of people to feed. Lily loves getting involved, particularly when the recipe involves chocolate.

Lily loves nothing more than knocking around with us and the rest of the neighbourhood gang at the pool and the beach. She loves our trips away camping and to our friend’s farm. Lily would love to have a brother or sister. Recently when she found out that some polished stones I had by my bed were given to me by a friend as a good luck charm to help me have a baby, she snuck them under my pillow telling Andy, “They’ll work better under there Daddy”. Lily would make a lovely and caring big sister.

We love our life with Lily; walking and riding along the beach to school, volunteering at the school and having the neighbourhood children play musical houses. We’ve got lots of room in our hearts, our home and garden for another child.

The best thing we have ever done is to be parents. We’d love to do it again.

thanks hun I almost feel like it's not an option for me. It is a calling. If I can be blessed with a beautiful family then I need and have to help someone do the same.
