    Default Tap water

What age did your child start drinking tap water?

My DD is 11 months, and there have been a few occasions where i have forgotten to boil the kettle, or i've boiled it, but it hasn't cooled, and have given her tap water to drink.

Is tap water really that bad? When are they old enough to start drinking it?

    Thanks

If you are worried, install a good filter on your tap

And i'm sure Cobey is fine, and has never been sick from drinking it?

I'm just wondering whether it's really neccessary to keep boiling it. I mean, we all drink it and i've never been sick from it.

We stopped boiling the water when DS was around 12 months old. He just has filtered tap water now. He has never had a problem with it and I am sure if I started earlier it would have been fine also.

My 14 month old DD has been drinking tap water since she was old enough to drink out of a sippy cup...about 8-9 months old I think. If the kettle has cool boiled water in it, I use that otherwise it's straight from the tap. She's fussy and prefers her water chillled just like her mummy so she often steals my water bottles and runs off with them even though she has her own.

I think the recommendation of babies drinking only boiled tap water is for babies under 6 months of age due to their immune systems not being as strong as ours. BF babies have stronger immune systems than FF babies at 3 months of age so if bub is FF and under 6 months old, I'd use boiled tap water. Older bubs can handle good ole tap water.....the flouride in the water is great for their teeth too!

I was giving DD a little boiled water with soids when she had them.
Then I slowely changed to just water out of my filter jug.

I can't remember how old she was though. It was quite a few months ago though and she is 13 months now.

DS was pretty much having tap water by around 11 months. He's ok apart from sleep issues and if I thought giving him boiled water could fix that I'd most certainly go back in time
