    Default gallstones being blasted????

ok i know posh has just started a gallstone thread since she has been super lucky to get hers out a few weeks ago (btw hope you are feeling better)..........................

but i have just had another case lastnight about 1/2hour after tea so it wasnt what i ate a tea as that is way too fast, i only had a sandwich at lunch but went to the MIL for morning tea. I havent had a problem for around 9 months and now all of a sudden i have had 3 cases of atacks in 6 weeks and 1 of them i swear i was going to die, i am waiting for my hospital appt but that is a few months off, and i will honestly say it i am s**t scared of going under and getting it done with 3 kids. Does anyone know off a surgeon who still blasts them in brissie? i would rather have them blasted then go through with a full op...............looks like i am back to the dr today for some painkillers

Oh you poor thing. It's awful pain, my mum went through it.

I think it depends on a few factors as to whether they are able to blast them, where they are and size etc. Could be worse if one is stuck in um, that tube thing (it's my bedtime!)

Can't help in Brissie, hope someone can. Keep of the dairy.

What would happen if you turned up to A&E while having an attack? Surely they would deal with it.

i went to the gp and she gave me some mersyndol forte, i spoke to her and they dont blast anymore its not worth the surgeons time, she is writing and ringing the hospital to see if they can move me up the list any quicker. Also if i turn up at a&e they will give me morphine then send me home i have to turn up there and be in absolute agony a certain amount of times before they fast track me she said. I also told her i am s##t scared of having the op and she said when the time came she would ring the hospital and they would work out between them on giving me a mini sedation drug before i was to go in on the day of surgery.

And i havent had much dairy lately but i have had more bread than normal so maybe thats what my prob is and i have had reflux burps after an attack and they are horrid, gtg and laydown while the kids are happy.

I would really really recommend on getting your gall bladder out. My sister put up with them for so long and ended up in hospital for weeks with infected bladder, kidneys, stomach, spleen and pancreas. She took about a week to recover from the actual op, once the infection got under control, but it was three weeks prior that she was admitted.

I have 3 children and I am currently recovering from my gallbladder removal last Thursday.

I know how you feel because I was crying as I went into theatre However I survived and although I am in a bit of pain, I am kinda excited of NEVER having the bad attacks I had.

I was rushed through the public system as a stone got caught in my liver duct and I also had an inflamed gallbladder.

3 yrs ago I was suppose to get it removed and put it off. I just spent 2 weeks in complete agony and I wasn't eating more than a sandwich a day and bile.

My GP said they will not put you on the top of the list UNTIL you have liver problems or inflamed gallbladder both of which I had. I also still had to wait the entire week in hospital on a drip.

So get yourself on the waiting list ASAP it is day surgery but my hubby is at home helping me with my 3 children as I cannot lift them or bend ( and lord knows how many times a day us mothers bend).
On the waiting list years ago I was called after a cancellation (I said NO), so cross fingers it happens for you

The cr@p thing about our system is they don't take into account our social circumstances. Dealing with the attacks and watching 3 children is really hard

Oh yeah instead of going to the hospital for the appointment go to a private surgeon. I went to the appointment within the week and was on the waiting list that day.. Much quicker even though I had a small amount out of pocket

    Hi,

I really feel for you. I had my gallbladder out in January this year and the pain from the attacks is just indescribable.

I was booked in for the 9th of January but on Boxing Day 07 (probably too much Christmas leftovers) I had my worst attack to date (they always seemed to happen at night) and I struggled all through the night to 'cope' with the pain (give me child birth any day). Anyway I had hubby take me to hospital as I really thought that I was dying and plus the pain had shifted lower so I was worried. I was given some morphine (which was bliss) and they ran some tests. Turned out that I had a severe case of pancreatitis and needed to stay in hospital - for 5 days on nil by mouth. Luckily I was out on New Years Eve and only had to wait a bit over a week for the op.

I too was really scared about it (mainly about the anaesthetic actually) as I had never had an operation before. I was given some lovely sedation and I don't remember much after that.

There was a bit of a recovery time after that and I did get an infection in the bile duct which I needed some fairly strong antibiotics for. But once that was all cleared up and the general soreness settled down I have never looked back.

Just the thought that I will never have to experience that pain again is enough for me. I was also fortunate enough to be fully insured so did not have to wait long at all once it was diagnosed.

All the best, I hope it all works out for you soon. Sorry to ramble so much.

    Cheers
