    Default Crinone Gel

I started taking this on day of my egg pick up. Does anyone else use this?

I have been really tired which is a common side effect but Ive noticed that i have also been feeling down, i wouldn't go as far as saying depressed but just down and unsociable. I dont want to talk to anyone and just want to keep to myself. I think it might be the Crinone. Has anyone experienced this?

I wish i could just snap out of it, as its just not me. I really dont feel like going to work tomorrow, i just dont want to have to speak to anyone!!

    Hi cantwait08

I have not taken Crinone Gel but I have felt very unsociable and needing time to myself after a pick up and during the two week wait.

IVF is such an exhausting process you take one day at a time and then just get to a stage where you need a break.

If you have some sick days up your sleeve and you can take the day off then do it and sleep in, watch the DVD's you have wanted to see and enjoy the day for you.

You will then slowly start to feel yourself again.

    Good luck

Cantwait, a feeling of being really 'down' is a really common side effect of the Crinone and it SUCKS. The side effects pamphlet describes it as 'feelings of severe sadness and unworthiness'. Fabulous, hey?

Just try to remember that it's the drugs, not you and make sure you take extra measures to look after and treat yourself during the TWW. You deserve it!

Good luck. May you get that BFP!!

    Hi cantwait,

I started the crinone gel on saturday, and have been the same way.

just like happy dance said it is very exhausting, it all hit me 1 week ago, i broke down at work, and then i took 2 weeks of sick days off, been watching lots of movies and sleeping which has taken my mind off it all.

And i am ready for my ET today!!!

Good luck, as gizmo said may you get that BFP

Hi Can'twait. Yep this is a comon side effect of progesterone medication. I found it would start a day or two after starting my crinone and it would last for a few days after I stopped taking it. The progesterone build up and drop that ocours naturally in a woman's cycle is also likely the cause of PMT and the monthly blues.

I had never experienced anything like this in my life prior to IVF and was shocked to find the huge impact it had on the thouhgts I had, the feelings I went through and my emotional energy.

I hope you have mentioned this to your FS. When Imentioned it to mine he seemed genuinely surprised and I realised that although the clinical staff are right into the details of what happens physically, they have their head in the clouds and do not reaise the enormous emotional strain IVF places on a woman. I hope the more of us tel them what happens at this end the more likely they will be to reseach it and perhaps find a way around the heavy duty mood change.

    Asha

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. It helps to know that others have felt the same.

I dont think my FS would think much of it, but i will mention it to him next time i see him.

Farmgirl - best wishes with your ET.

I will find out soon but can anyone tell me roughly how long they ask you to take the crinone for? I have enough till my BT on the 19th May. I hope i read wrong but i have seen that some women take it for up to 9 weeks of the pregnancy. I hope that is an exceptional circumstance!!

    Default hate the gel!

I thought I had been the luckiest ivf patient yet. No side effects from my shots, a very successful egg collection and straight forward transfer. However this gel has me floored! I've bloated to the point my pants don't fit and I'm constantly tired.10 more to go!
