Default Are we ready to TT?

DD is almost 22 months. We have done some TT (before DD2 arrived when I had more sparetime). We've had some success here and there with the toilet, but nothing with the potty.

Since about 18 months she has been saying poo and wees when she is actually doing it not before. The last 2 weeks she says "Toilet please". So, I rush her to the loo and she sits there and says No.

The thing is I'm not sure if I should keep taking her to the toilet because I don't know if she's ready to TT or has she just worked out that when she asks for the toilet she gets my attention (keeping in mind she now has to share my attention with her 10 week old sister).

I have been leaving the potty near where she is playing and yesterday I saw her sit on it briefly and she said toilet.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    She sounds ready to me

Here's what I did with DD...

I decided to stay home, and not go out unless I absolutely had to. And those trips were quick ones.
    For 2 weeks...

I bought about 20 pairs of undies. Literally. I think I might actually have 24

Then I put her in undies all day at home (except for sleep time). There were lots of accidents (hence why I needed so many undies lol). I popped her on the toilet every 1/2 hour to hour. Most times she did nothing. But I kept popping her on there anyway. ( she usually did a wee 5 mins after taking her off )

After 1 week she started doing a wee on the toilet when I put her on there.
After 2 weeks I could take her out in undies

My advice though (I learnt from TT DS) dont make her sit on the loo if she doesn't want to. ANd be patient & ready for accidents. The only way they learn it to feel the sensation of accidents.

    Hope that helps Good luck..

My DD1 has shown signs of being ready on and off since she was 20 months. She started asking to go, even did one wee and one poo on the toilet, then it all stopped when DD2 was born. She tells me when she has a wet or dirty nappy and has been asking to wear undies and tells me that big girls wear undies etc. etc. She can hold on too so all the signs are there.
I went out on sunday and bought some undies. I put them on her and told her to tell me if she needed to go to the toilet. She wet the floor twice.
Monday evening I gave her a big drink then sat her on the toilet and we waited, and waited, and waited. After an hour she finally did a wee and I made out like it was the best thing ever and we rang nanny and poppy and told them, she told people the next day. She was really proud of herself and I figured that now she knew what to expect it could help.
Well, nope! No success on Tuesday and on Wednesday it was a wonderful way to get out of having a nap and then she fought me cause she didn't want to wear a nappy and she ripped it off and peed all over the floor...an hour and a half after she asked to go to the toilet.

We have now ceased toilet training. The signs are there but she's just not ready and I have zero interest in cleaning up tons of accidents and taking guesses as to when she needs to go. I am waiting until she tells me she is ready (my sis and I, my neice and a friend's daughter said that they wanted the toilet and no accidents. That's when a child is truly ready IMO!)

No harm in trying, she just might be ready but don't be disheartened if she's not! She's obviously putting all the pieces together!
