I found that I felt comforted by having women with me that had birthed before - like that they were going through the pain with me because they had felt it in their own bodies before and they knew what I was going through. They knew that sometimes I needed my brow mopped but other times I just needed my own space and that they didn't take my actions or words personally.

Hrmm I do remember thinking to myself that dh had no idea what I felt because he didn't have the bodily instruments I had. So when he was saying "Oh I see the head crowning, they don't call it the ring of fire for nothing" it didn't help me out!!! So I felt that dh was there because this was partly his experience too, so he didn't need to be just there to support me but that he may need some support too! I mean this was his baby too..... know what I mean?

Freebirth is all about you though... your body, your mind, your soul, birthing the baby that you have grown inside your own self. The experience of being able to reach down and show yourself what you have made is fantabulous! --- very selfish in a positive way!

Yeah I feel that I only want hubby there. I don't feel close to women generally.
I don't really feel a need for a support person whatsoever.

I feel the same way you do Kymmy, when i first imagined having my baby at home i only ever pictured my husband and myself being there. Having a stranger in my house just didnt fit. So im planning on freebirthing my bub in the next few weeks and im very excited about it.

I just want to yell "don't do it " when I hear other talking about freebirth or unassisted but I know I felt the same feelings as I planned mine and nothing a freind who is a Middie and Homebirth addict or my OB said could sway me from my dream so and lotsa positive
It is time for women to take back their births and give themselves and their babies the best chance at a miraculous start. Birth, or its effects—both good and bad—last a lifetime.

I freebirthed my first in feb and it was the greatest experience of my life I found that I really wanted women who had homebirthed with me, but more than them my DH. When my DH and I touched my pain eased, it was amazing.

I was in labour for 59 hours so we were really glad we decided to have our doulas with us at different times so that DH could take a break, coz I found it much harder to labour alone, it hurt more

For those planning a freebirth, are you having a free pregnancy?

I am enjoying this pregnancy. It feels so right for me to take care of myself.
I didn't enjoy my other pregnancies. I wonder now the reasons why.

Im not having a free pregnancy, i quite enjoy going down to the hospital for my antenatal appointments. My hospital is fairly small though so i dont have to spend hours waiting, usually go down and get seen straight away and come home again. Im also glad i know what position the baby is in and that it is head down.

I went to my GP once during pregnancy because I wanted to find out what my blood type was. I also needed to get a letter from a GP who saw me during pregnancy to confirm I didn't make it up, so I went thinking my GP would do that for me once the baby was born, how wrong I was Next time I'll see a midwife once off just to get the letter.

Lillipilie did you feel you needed the hospital to tell you how your baby is positioned? I could feel where Harri was, I knew she was head down but posterior

I can never feel how my baby is lying, this one has been kicking me on both sides at once at the top, makes me a bit paranoid that it is hands poking me. But they told me it is definately head down, it is just a frog in disguise i think.
