I am not planning one for my self.... but I will be my sil's doula when she freebirths at her home in July - so it should be amazing

I would have liked to freebirth my last three but my blood pressure wouldn't allow it. I did however do what my body asked me to do and feel my babies slip out into my own hands = fantastic birth experiences.

Do you feel like you are getting much support for your choice?

I don't really but I know I wont get support in hospital so I really want to have an unassisted birth. Hubby is mostly onboard. He is starting to understand how I feel but I don't feel truly supported.

    I'm planning a freebirth.
I have only told people about the possiblity of having a homebirth with a midwife, and that has been met with so much negativity, that I refuse to tell people what we are really doing.
Hubby is well and truly onboard (it was mostly his enthusiasm that convinced me that freebirth was the way we are going).

I am getting lots of negativity so I can see how it might be easier just to say oh I am having baby in hospital, no need to worry.
I hate getting advice when its not asked for.

I get past their negativity you have to work on your positivity about your freebirth. Firstly educate yourself - knowledge is power. Then write down why you feel trully passionate about your decision. Then speak about it with other people with confidence and if they are rude enough to tell you negative things about your passion then you can tell them what they are doing and how it makes you feel.

ie "Please don't be negative about my personal birthing experience, I would like your support because when you say *insert negative comment* it makes me feel *negative emotion caused*"

Often we don't speak up and say these things because it makes the other person feel uncomfortable. What you have to remember is that they are the ones that have put the negative feelings upon you, you don't want the negative so hand it back, with a smile on your face

Get so excited about the experience that you are going to have that you can soar high above everyone elses judgement - get so absorbed in your pregnancy that no one else exists (hrmm this is more something that happens occasionally when you have other children)

Boost your self confidence - remember you know what is the best thing for your body, mind and baby! Own your pregnancy!

    *jumps off soap box*

    That is great!
I just feel like I am going around in circles sometimes.
But you are right, it is MY pregnancy.

These circles -or cycles- are rules that you have set for yourself... and rules - especially ones that cause you unhappiness- are meant to be broken!
