Low amniotic fluid

I had my 32 week scan today and could tell that the radiographer(?) was concerned about the level of amniotic fluid around bubs. A senior radiographer came in and also measured the fluid. She also mentioned calcification of the placenta, but they assured me that all was okay.

So, just 6 hours later my ob's offices rang and they want to see me on Monday to discuss the low level of amniotic fluid. I have to have scans every two weeks and if I don't feel the baby move 10 times a day I have to go to the hospital for a CTG(?) scan!

I'm a little concerned and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if you can put my mind at ease? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I was told I had low amniotic fluid with my DD at 32 weeks after I had a scan because I was measuring a bit smaller. They said it was more a precautionary thing than anything. At 38 weeks the scan was showing it was all fine and they told me bubs was roughly 8-9lbs already. When she was born 2 days overdue she was only 6lb 13. Just wanted to give you some , try not to let this stress you out.

Some times the low amonitic fluid is a sign that the placenta isn't working as well as it should. however, if baby is still measuring well and growing, then things are fine (hence the reason why they want you to have scans so often to make sure there is continual growth)

the 10 movements per day is for all pregnant women. maybe you just hadn't heard fo it before, or it was the first time they had told you.

I had low fluid with my DD1 and they attempted to induce me at 36 weeks because of it. I failed to progress, so after 5 days they performed a c section and she was born at 37 weeks on the dot ... healthy, pink and screaming, apgars of 9 and 10, a good 8lb 7oz with no complications due to her former "living conditions"

She is now a beautiful, relatively healthy (a couple of immunity problems that she is slowly gorwing out of), intelligent and active 7 year old.

Just an update. My ob is booking me into scans every 10 days to measure growth and amniotic fluid. As long as the baby continues to grow (meaning that the placenta is providing sufficiently) we can progress as normal. Should the baby's growth or movement slow down significantly he will induce/perform a c section. He has said it is quite likely that the baby will come early.

He wants me to slow down significantly, which is a pain as I have so much I wanted to do before the birth, but I will do what I have to do.
