Your caesar birth plans?

Wondering if anyone has prepared a birth plan/preference list for their c-section? I'd love to see examples!!!

Even if you have prepared just to be attached in case of emergency or if natural labour cannot be followed through for whatever reason.

It was created by a woman who had a previous traumatic caesarean, and wanted to have a more empowering experience with her next child.

She did too.

I am not pregnant (yet) but I have already started thinking about what's going to be in my birth plan as I will be having an elective c/s due to complications from my son's birth.

Obviously I will need to discuss all of this with my OB when the times comes but a few things I would like to include in my birth plan are-

-if possible I want my baby placed on my chest immediately after birth before being wrapped (a quick checkover first is ok if necessary), with a heated blanket covering him/her.

-I would like to breastfeed as soon as possible, whether that be while I am being stitched or in recovery

-under no circumstances is my baby to be given formula (I don't think they would, but I will be putting that in just to make sure)

-I want my baby with me at all times, I never want to be separated from him/her unless medically necessary

-if for some reason I can't be with my baby then I would like only my DH to hold him/her and even provide skin to skin contact if I am unable to.

-I would like for my son to meet & bond with his baby brother or sister before any other visitors are allowed in

Not sure how realistic all of this is and this is just the first few things that come to mind when I think about it.

There are some people out there (and dr's as well!) who will quesiton why you need a birth plan for a c/section. i think they are very important! you need to let people know that even though it is a medical procedure, you still want to have the same bonding rights as a normal birth would have.

there is no reason why the baby can not be placed on your chest (the baby will need some suctioning though as it wont be passing thru a birth canal) or why you cant feed the baby while you are being stitched up.

Next time, I want the screen to be lowered just so I can see bubs coming out... I'm a bit weird like that

I had one for my last birth (VBAC) but the file has been corrupted

Anyway I remember including my pain relief option, that I also wanted the screen lowered, (I was GUTTED at my c/sec not being able to watch) then the rest was basically identical to my VB plan, ie

How to greet the baby

Skin to Skin contact

Immediate Brestfeeding

If I wanted to see the placenta

What I would and would not consent to.

Might want to add in the request of bfing in recovery and being shown side feeding - (if you dont know already) it really saved me I was just lucky I had a very attentive midwife would took the time to show me, it was a great bonding experience.

i handed out approx. 10 plans, to everyone i saw, i had HEAPS spare and told EVERYBODY what i want and demand (even if they didn't want to hear it

)
i GOT what i wanted 100% -
so keep nagging and demanding until somebody listens, the most important person is the ana. though, he runs the theatre (well at least in my case -3rd c/s- it was like this, he gave me all i wanted, he lifted me up so i could see bubby being born, he told off the midwives who wanted to take buby off me, he was my advocate, he was my hero, i really have to say that- and I WAS PUBLIC, so here we go)
