    Default Apparantly I'm weird....

... well thats how Jedd's new day care centre made me feel. Apparantly I'm the FIRST person to EVER ask about using cloth nappies - AND the first person to EVER say that I can supply a CO form because of choosing not to immunise

The centre seemed quite good in all other respects; but when the manager told me that I'm the first person to ever ask about these things made me wonder if I'm doing the right thing sending Jedd there one day a week for some 'sanity' time...

So what makes YOU a weird parent...??

    They need to visit bubhub!

The only thing I can really think of is breastfeeding until past 2 yrs of age. I think for our age group, we've done well in that respect.

I can't think of anyone IRL who has bf for more than a few weeks / months at my age.

I'm pretty "mainstream" apart from that. Oh, except that I was too "clingy" when DS was young and preferred to hold him / have him in a sling than leave him lying on the floor or in a cot.

My family think I'm weird cos I prefer DS not to have food additives. We were at a party one day and my SIL told me to just relax a bit with him and i went off saying I should be able to choose what my child eats not everyone else choose for me. My siter then procceded to say she would give DS anything to eat if she was babysitting him. I think its quite rude actually.

Using cloth nappies is a very common thing in my family so it not weird to me.

I agree with you about being a young breastfeeder. I'm 23 and with almost a year of bf'ing under the belt I feel really proud of myself!

Oh and the manager looked at me strangely when I said that Jedd is still fully breastfed - but that I'll supply either formula or EBM for him (if I can ever get any OUT!)

Nah, we are all weird in our own little ways, you aren't alone

Dare I say most day care users are probably all about convenience and use disposables, even if they use cloth at home rest of the time.

Kristyhunger, your SIL is not wise and is a bit thoughtless. What if he had allergies, would she still hold that view? Your child, your way of doign things, others should respect that

I so wanted to feed Kynan until he was at least 1. I was really disappointed when my supply dropped and he was loosing weight. No one told me anything about what I know now like how to get your supply back up and thinks like that. I feel a bit cheated.

I asked DS' old daycare about the vaxx issue and the owner also said that she had never come across anyone who didn't immunise.

I'm just weird in every way

When my daughter started daycare she was toilet trained at 20 months and in a cloth nappy for rest time, she was immunised but still breastfed, and not allowed to eat certain foods such as sweet stuff, so because it was Easter time when I started, they were handing out chocolate easter eggs and I was telling them no to that because she doesn't eat those foods. Oh, and also, she was the only one to be still in a carseat out of the staff children (I worked there too and 3 other staff had children aged 12 months to 3 years) the rest were either in a foam booster with no harness, or nothing but the seat of the car, often in the front as well. So those things made me weird but her other daycare are very supportive of those things. They have 2 children who are vegans and unimunised and still breastfed at 3 and 4 and they are just such happy, healthy and independent little kids and the daycare are supportive

    Me? Weird? Never!!...OK, utterly weird.

DS has cloth nappies at daycare (they supply nappy service if I request it). He is the ONLY one.

Last year when he was in the babies room (ages 6 weeks to 2 years) he was the ONLY one getting EBM, and the ONLY one who was still bf'd. There were a number of much younger babies there.
