Help get my dog out of my garden!!

Hi there, just wondering if anyone new of a herb plant or weed i could plant in my garden so my dog would stop diging in it??
Or any tips at all?? Its a new thing shes just started to dig and so far has dug up most my rocket, my curry bush and mint bush argh shes sending me bonkers. I cant exactly get mad at her unless i catch her in the act. My garden is fully fenced she keeps jumping over it. What should i do pllleeeaassee help!

Personally I'd make the fence higher, but that will be a pain for you.

You can buy a sort of gel-crystal which you dig into the soil. I think it has a citronella type scent which deters dogs from digging. A coworker used it with her new puppy and had some success. Not sure if it's ok for food crop areas. I can't think of the name but any good pet supply shop should have something similar. There are deterrent sprays you can buy too but they're not as effective I thnk and you have to respray after rains or watering.

I would go the citronella or the gel stuff thats made using it you can purchase it from Big W or pets stores. This worked a treat for us because we had a labrador who loved to pull out the plants & bring the flowers to the back door sweet but umm yeah
It took a bit but she got the hint she wasnt allowed in there & after we had no probs.
Another good idea is to make a little digging area for the dog to dig to its hearts content like say a little sandpit. Put bones into some holes & encourage digging & play in that area this also worked for us & again no more dramas.
But worse case scenario i think Martha might be right that a higher fence may be needed.

lol I don't know if this is true or not...but one of my friends had the same prob...so anyway she sprinkled heaps of pepper in her garden and apparently it makes pets sneeze to much so they learn to stay away...she swears by it...I don't think it would do any damage to your plants...but i'm not really a gardener so I really don't know!

the product they are talking about is called GET OFF MY GARDEN, it comes in a spray or gel crystals it is a citronella based product and it gives mixed results some people say it is fantastic and some people say there dogs eat it, it isn't that expensive so may e worth a shot, maybe take your dog with you to purchase it (most vets stock it) spary a bit on your hand and put it in your dogs face if they trurn away then they don't like the smell.

Citrus peel! Lemons, oranges or limes. Peel with a vegie peeler so it is nice and thick, not like zest and scatter through the section of the garden you want them out of.

According to Don Burke, it's a winner. I haven't tried it myself.

There's also a plant called Dogsbane, which is sold in nurseries in the Herb section.

you know what really worked for a friend. get a rolled up newspaper and while the dog is watching go and belt the hole with the newspaper saying naughty boy. you may look ridiculous but maybe worth a try.

Thankyou everyone for the helpful advice, i ended up making the fence better and stronger, i didnt want to take any chances of Busta getting in, as i went camping for 4 days and couldnt monitor her naughty digging. So far so good
If she gets in again i will definately try all the suggestions
