    Question Recommend a Car

Since you guys have been so great about mortgage advice, I thought I'd test the waters on cars.

We are in the market for a CHEAP ($7,000) car as my hubby wrote our car off last week. We had a Subaru Liberty wagon but I'm thinking of going smaller for fuel efficiency.

    Any recommendations?

I dont know what the prices are like at the moment but prior to have DS I had a Toyota Echo. They are great cars, very well designed ( I always told DH they must have been designed by a woman ) and VERY fuel efficent.

I sold mine as DS pram etc wouldnt fit in the back but I had a hatch back so maybe the sedan version would be good??

    Goodluck searching!

I SWEAR by my toyota corolla seca... all the mechanics I have ever been to REPEATELY tell me it is a lovely car... and I hardly ever have to service it...

because it is a smaller car (mine is a hatchback 4 cylinder) - I get pretty good mileage out of it..

    happy car hunting!!!

You definalty CANT go wrong with a toyota!

If you have problems the parts are easily ordered in, so I would recomend getting a car that is well known other than a european car....

Well for 7 g... you could get a pretty nice car.... depending on your tastes.. auto or manual... sedan, hatch, wagon...
Do a bit of research and valuing online, compare prices, and check out all the pros and cons of a particular vehicle you are looking at buying...
yellowpages online used to have a value my car link.... i used to go on there and type in the cars i was looking at in the trading post to see if they were fairly priced..... Oh the joys of car hunting... All the best.... one last thing... buy privatley... car yards are a no no

    Hi,
I have a Suzuki Baleno wagon and i think its great!
It fits everything i need and is very fuel efficient. It even looks like a Subaru Outback (well only a little bit).

I don't have a recommendation as such, my hubby is an auto electrican and he has always said the 4 cylinder Magna's are terrible. They are cheap to buy and feel nice to drive, but they break down all the time.

    Toyotas are good tho'

That is a load of ****. We bought a car privately (with a road worthy) for 5500 dollars 2 years ago and proceeded to sink 6000 dollars into it in repairs just so that it was able to run so my hubby could get to work. Car yards offer warrentys with their cars but private sales dont.
