    Default toys

    Our son was a Thomas FREAK right from day dot. I know the battery operated Thomas' say from age 3 but our son loved playing with them from about one - just without batteries they can push them around.

    Little People stuff, simple puzzles, Mega Bloks or Duplo (check before you buy those just in case they already have some, then you can buy the same kind), balls, cubby house (Ikea has a great igloo for about $15), buckets & spades, bath toys...my kids have most of those things LOL I think they have too many toys LOL
    Big Brother ~ 7yrs...wishes he was 10 LOL
    Little Sister ~ "I'm almost 5 now mum!!!"
    Baby Brother ~ way closer to 2yrs than I'd like.

    Hi, Sorry I haven't been on here for a long time. I have two sons. For the oldest son's 1st Birthday I learnt the hard way they only need simple toys at that age. They don't always need the flashing colours etc. Also toys without batteries are always good. That way you don't have to keep buying them.

    Things that I would suggest are;

    -Shape sorter- the ones where you fit the shapes in in the matching shape holes.

    - Hammer and peg board. My lilman still loves that.

    - Ride on car or bike with parent handle.

    - Block trolley - If they are still not walking yet. This one would be fantastic!They also love pushing or pulling things at this age!

    - Last but not least- One of those things where you stack the rings on top of one another. Can't remember what you call it but there a lot of fun.

    Well hope this helps.

    My DD loves those Fisher Price Roll-A-Rounds (they are like a clear plastic ball with little animals, fruit...etc. inside), her glow worm and she has a little Fisher-Price My First Handbag which plays songs that she loves (It also comes in a tool bag version for boys).

    Best 1st Birthday gift i got was her Doodle Pro... still at 20 months she plays with it at least once everyday.
