Hi Tigerteel,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Multiple Births.
I have two year old twin boys, they were born at St Vincents Private. They are non identical.
How are you finding the pregnancy? Is this your first pregnancy?
Feel free to pick my brains i am more than happy to help

Hi Tigerteel,
Congratulations on your twin pregnancy. My twins were born at 38 wks & 6days at Mitcham Private. They have just turned five. As they are a boy/girl pair, they are obviously fraternal.
Best of luck with everything, feel free to ask lots of questions of all us twin parents as your pregnancy progresses.
Cheers

Hi Tigerteel,
I have fraternal twin girls who are 4.4yrs old. Born at 38 wks by elective cs.
Hi
I also last week found out that I am expecting fraternal twins in October. I already have a 5 yo DS and 2 yo DD and was quite surprised to see 2 additional little people at the 10 week scan.
My ob says the aim is to get to 38 weeks, but I will admit that I am starting to realise that they may arrive sooner regardless.
I have so many questions about twins generally and then product recommendations: prams? cars? feeding pillow? do you need a bigger nappy bag? will I ever not be sleep deprived again? how much more uncomfortable will a twin pregnancy be than a singleton?
See ... questions and still in shock.
Good to hear others are out there.

Hi Tigerteel, Congrats on the twins.
I have fraternal twin boys who are two, they were born at 39.2 weeks, natural birth.
Hi Mammamia, Congratulations to you as well. In response to some of your questions we already had DS1 and we found it easier to trade in the station wagon and buy a Chrysler Grand Voyager instead as I am a little shortie and it was abit hard for me to put DS1 in the middle seat especially when the twins seats were in the capsule position. Prams: we brought a Valco Twin Runabout mainly because it was the only one at the time we could find that you could put a toddler seat on the front for out DS1 as he was only 19months and I still wanted him in a pram. I had a bigger nappy bag then what I had with my eldest as I had double to pack for the twins plus Corey was still a baby so I had to pack nappies and clothes for him aswell, Lets just say it was a BIG bag. Hopefully you wont be sleep deprived for ever, my twins slept through from about 3 weeks so I was really lucky.
It will be a different experience for you obviously with this pregnancy for one I dare say you will get alot bigger then you have with your singleton pregnancies I was huge all baby I got to the stage where I laid on the lounge at mum and dads one day with Corey to get him to have a nap mum and dad went out and I was stuck until they got home. Also feeling two babies wriggling around inside you is amazing. When one kicks on one side you know if it is twin one or twin two (that is how the hospital refered to them) its great I really enjoyed it.
I hope that helps. Ask more when ever you want. Congrats again to the both of you.

Hey Congrats MammaMia! And Tigerteel
My identical twins were induced at 37 weeks due to suspected TTTS. I had them vaginally with an epidural.
I have just had my third child (singleton girl) and it has been 10 times easier, even with 3 y/o twins runing around. The preg was much easier (though by no means a breeze), the birth was wonderful as I had options and no drugs to ruin its clarity, the bonding was faster, the breastfeeding a non event. I guess if I were having twins after singletons I would set myself up for a hard time and then if it is you will be prepared, if it's not, it will be a bonus.
My twins didn't sleep through until they were over two and sleep deprivation was a state I thought would never end.
That all sounds a bit negative, I don't mean it that way - the twins are just so wonderful - amazing fun, amazing opportunities to learn about all sorts of stuff. They are just hard work. Harder than people with singletons imagine.
Double Congratulations to Tigerteel & MammaMia!
I wish you all the very best with your twin pregnancy. It is an amazing thing, carrying two little ones. I loved every single living moment.
I did get very tired (physically) in the end and it is important to rest up as much as you can. As amazing as our mummy bodies are, they can only do so much.
I was recommended a twin book called funnily enough ~Twins~. Written by Katrina Bowman & Louise Ryan, both who are mothers to twins. I found it a good reference source throughout the pregnancy and shortly after when bringing them home.
I had my boys (non identical) by c/s as twin 1 was breech. I had 2 natural births with dd's so I was happy with that decision. Personally I was more comfortable with a c/s too.
I had 8 scans all up. Twin 1 was always slightly smaller so the dr's wanted to check his growth quite often. They were born an oz apart at 5lb 8oz and 6lb 7oz. They are still noticeably different in size.
When one kicks on one side you know if it is twin one or twin two (that is how the hospital refered to them) its great I really enjoyed it.
Just wanted to say the twin lying closest to the cervix is known as twin 1 and the other twin is twin 2.
Enjoy this special time in your lives. Its such a blessing.

Why do children believe in fairies, but "grown ups" don't?
