    Default breech baby

I am 36 weeks pregnant at the moment and the doctor said yesterday my baby is breech oblique ,, that is sideways i think, they first said so after my 32 week ultrasound and i didnt panic because of the chance of her turning, but now im starting to worrie because i feel like it has been in this position for most of my pregnancy. Im really scared about a c-section , mainly because of the epidural, and the arter pain you go through,, with my first son i had an epi and was bedridden through labour, but still delivered successfully ,and this time i was really looking forward to an active labour, i have spent my whle pregnancy researching it and feel confident about a natural delivery,, i dont want a c-section,, does anyone know sucessfull ways of turning a breech baby, and moreso any proffessionals on the gold coast they can recomend ??

    Hi,

There's a website called spinningbabies (I think) that ladies have recommended in the past. I'm sure someone will be able to confirm the name.

Best of luck in turning your bubba !

    Hi Abbynmonique....

Same thing happened to me at 36.5 wks. A few times a day, for around a 1/2 hour, I lay upside down on my ironing board (which I propped up on the couch) with headphones on the underside of my belly playing Mozart!

I also booked in for acupuncture and I am pretty sure my bubs turned during the session as there was this massive sweeping movement that I could not only feel but also see!

Also, it would be good to confirm exactly what position bubs is in - breech or transverse? And what type of breech?

My OB at the time would not entertain any other option apart from caesarian, so I actually changed OB's and found a lovely one who spoke to me at length about delivering my baby naturally even if she stayed breech.

Here's a good website to have a look at if you want to contemplate the idea of a normal delivery.....

One thing I would say though, is that you need to make sure you get the right support if you want to go natural - find an OB who is experienced with vaginal breech birth.

Also, google "Optimal Foetal Positioning", basically you just need to spend time each day in position and bubs should turn. Knee's lower than your hips, if my memory serves me correctly (I have lost the fantastic link I once had, DH is great for wiping the computer memory and not saving my bookmarks first!!). I spend some time each day leaning forward onto a fit-ball. I have a cushion on the ground, kneel on that and rest my upper body on the ball.

    Good luck!

hehe,, tracie, thats an awsome idea to lay on the ironing board,, im going to try that today. Last night i tried to lay upside down in a few positions on the couch and found it really hurt my lungs, just the pressure of bubs and also my whole stomach was pulling downwards,, is this a normal sensation. i figure i will lay not so vertical and try to work up to a more uppside down position.

They say accupuncture can turn a breech bub - maybe thats worth a go!
The other thing you can do is get on all fours on the floor and rock. (Just slightly tilting your pelvis down - thats supposed to encourage bub to move into position.
Good luck... I hope you can avoid that c-section.

Excellent!!! I will have to remember that.... hehe... my bub is breech at the moment but i am only 25weeks...she still has time to turn... my midwife said to me last night though that she has seen many breech babies turn just by the mothers thinking to themselves feet up here.. and mentally tell the baby to turn... she said out of 5 usually 4 will turn... so I will be trying that too if she doesn't turn! hehe
