So Confusing!

DF is rejoining the RAAF this month as some of you already know.

He's been calling them at least once a week making sure theyve got the last of his security clearance paper work etc' and we've been finding it really difficult to get a hold of the woman he normally speaks to.

He finally gets a hold of someone last week and they say to him 'oh you havent done your fitness test yet'

he said ' uh no last time i was in i did it on the day i enlisted and left for basic training'

she says 'no we dont do it that way anymore you sposed to do it 8 weeks before you leave so you'll have to do it next Tuesday!'

which is fine,we would have liked to have been told that,since no-one told him,or sent a letter and it wasnt in his paperwork but whatever.he knows he's ready so thats cool.

But then she says 'oh your a re-entry so your just going straight to wagga and not doing basic training right?'

DF was like 'huh? i was told that since its been over 5 years since i was last a member i had to do it again??'

This womans like nope,not what it says here!

The other woman told him he had to and shes on leave so we have NO IDEA whats going on.The only reason he is sposed to do it again was because he could have gone last October and gone straight to his posting but THEY lost his criminal check paperwork etc and the 5 year cut off lapsed so they told him he would have to wait until the next basic training intake this APRIL.

Im pretty sure this woman is wrong and he'll have to repeat BT but im feeling totally in the dark now. Ive been gearing myself up to be alone with DD for the 10 and a half weeks.I dont want to be getting my hopes up thinking he may not have to do it.

But since he's meant to leave on the 22nd of this month and they are the Defence force i figuered they would at least know what theyre doing with their enlistee's.

God,im going to laugh if they contact us after he passes his fitness test and tell us were moving in a few weeks and he's not going to basic training and that was just a mistake.Im so not prepared to move yet.my house is a disaster zone

Im completely understand what your going through. We're going through similiar things with hubby getting back into the airforce at the moment. It really does come down to who you get on the phone. So dont be content with leaving them a phone message. They rarely return your phone calls. So just keep ringing until you get through and good luck!

We finally got a letter last week saying he had been accepted into recruitment. He was like ummm no thats not right. So he rang up and the lady who sent the letter obviously didnt read his file properly the first time. And said she'd get back to him. So the next day someone else rings back and said "oh no dont worry about that i need your preferences for your posting" So hopefully we're moving sooner then later cause im 6months pregnant!

It's so frustrating isnt it?!?! how long has your hubby been out for? They really make things complicated. weve been stuffed around so many times now. theyve lost his paperwork at least3 times. lost his criminal check twice,lost his original copy of his birth certificate and then told us they couldnt proceed with his paperwork until he showed them one.But THEY lost it so we had to pay for a new one and wait for it to come and they got annoyed because it took 3 weeks but it was THEIR mistake to start with

I just have no idea whats going on right now.

Hubby has been out for 2yrs in July.

We also got told we had a month of waiting before being back into the airforce last September. Its now April and we're still waiting.

They are quite obviously hopeless with their paperwork and they dont realise/care that their inability to do their job is affecting peoples lives.

Anyway /rant off. Hope you find out whats happening soon.

Hope you guys get moved soon. You would think since they're so desperate for recruits they'd get their bums in gear and be a bit more organised wouldnt you

Oh well hopefully all will be explained to us sometime this week.
