    HI Jakysmum,

I had my first cycle cancelled but for the oppisite, I had too many eggs!!! Luckily I did get to have my EPU and now have 11 frozen embies but didnt get to transfer. I was really dissapointed. Im now waiting till may for my 1st FET.
I agree with the other ladies, I would have thought they would give it longer than 7 days, but as Helen said Im no Dr. If your FS isnt giving you straight answers though, maybe you should get a 2nd opinion???

Good Luck, and dont forget there is plenty of support on this website when your feeling down or confused!!

    Hi jakysmum and welcome.

i am so sorry to hear your news, that must be so devastating. I have been through 3 full icsi cycles and 1 donor egg cycle with zero fertilisation so i know how hard things can be.

Tell your FS what you want to do, make a list of things to ask and dont leave until you get the answers. there is nothing wrong with that, you are paying them and they are there for you!

I hope to hear how you went when you get back.

Good luck hun and we are all here for you

    Hi!!

    Thanks for all your support!!!

Went back to my dr yesterday to find out why he cancelled my cycle and what we can do next...

I guess because I had not responded AT ALL to any of the injections he felt like there really was no point in conituning on as it wasn't going to achieve anything...... so this is why he cancelled my cycle, personally i would have preferred to continue on and see what happened as I found out yesterday he cost me an additional $300 becasue my cycle was cancelled!! I really should have been a dr!

So the next step is to wait for the next period and up the puregon injections to 600ml and to not use Synarel.... This time around he is hoping to get 3 to 4 follicles as opposed to 10 to 12.

I guess the most frustrating part is the waiting!! And all the time in between to think about it all! But will try to remain positive this time around, and if anything this has certainly knocked me off my perch.....

Thankyou to all of you who have offered me your support and advice, it was an overwhelming response.

Will keep you all posted with the results.

    xxx

    Hi Jakysmum,

Welcome to bubhub....you will find it a great source of support and meet lots of wonderful people here.

I'm so sorry you've had such a terrrile few days. It's not fair. I always think, "I can cope with a BFN - but not being able to even have a transfer really crappy".

It sounds like your FS has a plan in place...but in the meantime would you consider seeing someone else (if you have another IVF centre in your area) to get a second opinion.

After 10 unsucessful cycles and the last one having nothing to transfer I am trying a Flare Cycle - My FS thinks that maybe the down reg process is too long for my eggs and a shorter cycle might keep them healthier !?!?!? There are lots of options with drugs and plans you can swap around to see what's right for you. An increase in Purogen will certainly help. I have had Purogen all my other tries, but am giving Gonal F a whirl this time !!

Hang in there and try to stay positive (easier said than done I know). The waiting is the WORST part.....keep getting on here and chatting to everyone, they understand and will help you through it the best they can.

    Take care,
    Sally-Ann

This thread is now quite old, but for what it's worth ... I also nearly had my first cycle cancelled in April. We really increased the dosage in the last few days and thought that we would have 6 follicles ready ... in the end we only had 3 eggs collected, and only 2 eggs fertilised and continued to grow.

From my research and understanding, the follicles can only be stimulated up to probably a maximum of 15 or 16 days ... because after that the eggs would most likely be too old. Research has also shown that eggs collected after 14 days, the success rate for a pregnancy carrying to term is reduced by about 20% per day post 14 days ... that's why the fertility specialist is also probably more inclined to cancel ...
