Default Help anyone- Hyperthyroidism in pregnancy/ labour

    Hi all,

I had a kinda difficult pregnancy last time due to Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism) whcih compounded my morning sickness. It was "in remission" (sounds dire hey, but thats what they say) good until I fell pregnant with bubs #1 where I needed to go back on meds. That dorted it until I went into labour where bubs andI went into distress because of my heart rate etc. Needed epidural to get my heart rate down (after 28 hrs).

I have just got a bfp and am after any info/ tips from anyone who has hyperthyroidism. How did you manage it during pregnancy (apart from drugs, which are a given) and what did your obstetrician do for you during labour/ birth that helped?

I wont be much help, the only things I can suggest is to make sure you are on PTU. PTU is considered the safest medication to be on while pregnant. Also have regular blood tests to monitor your TSH, T3 and T4 levels to make sure that your medication levels are right.

Hope your pesky thyroid gland settles down soon.
