Default Morning/Afternoon tea snack ideas for a 10 month old

DD1 is 10 months old and Im looking for ideas for her morning snack before lunch eg at 11am and an afternoon snack before 5.30pm.

Ive noticed my girl gets quite grizzly before her main meals but Im not sure what to give her as I dont really want to be giving the same thing for snacks as I do for meals.
    • Breakfast is usually Farex/weetbix together 50/50
    • Lunch is usually Baby yoghurt then some pear/peaches/nectarine
    • Dinner is usually chicken mince with veg or mixed veg on own
I want to give her something that wont fill her up too much before big meals.

The only things Ive offered for snacks have been teething rusks and she has water throughout the day. Biscuits have just come to mind Ive never tried them but some mum said she gave her baby sugarless ones...no idea which ones they were. Shes a BF healthy baby but I think she needs more.

Some ideas would be very helpful as Im not very experimental.

what bout steamed vege sticks if you are trying to be healthy??? just chunks of veges - they last a few days in the fridge if you keep them sealed ..

I let my son have his serves of fruit at that time .. again .. finger food - he would have fruit for morning tea and afternoon tea ..

if you dont mind being a little less healthy at times - good ol milk arrowroot biscuits?? or a pikelet (be careful with egg content though) ..

hope that helps??? I'll try to think of more

I use arrowroot biscuits, rice crackers (but thats a bit scary at first as they are so sharp when they bite them!)
also the tommee tippee thingy - now this is hard to describe- i found it at the supermarket. Its a little net type thing that you can put fruit etc in and they suck it. removs the danger of choking - as they just suck the juices out. its great!! just dont put banana in it if you dont want to clean it for half an hour after!!!

actually, small pieces of banana are another snack we give him. our ds is 10 months too.

Thanks ladies I wasnt too sure on the arrowroot biscuits I didnt think of them as being a more healthier option (not that im critisizing) just what I assumed. Ill get some just to have on hand as an alternative once Ive run out of other things.

A mesh feeder sounds like a great idea. I dont really like the idea of finger foods but she will have to learn how to feed by herself eventually. Gave her carrot last night and she got more all over herself than in her mouth! Carrot sticks sound like a very good idea though. One of the mums in my group said she feeds her boy cheese sticks? So might get some of that too. Bit hard when DH still does the shopping! Ill have a look on the heinz web site too .

Arrowroots, rice cakes, grapes, watermelon, slice of cheese, banana, avocado, sultanas, little fruit snacks like peach/pear snack cups in juice, grated carrot and apple mixed together - you could add some grated cheese too.

My 10 month old doesn't have snacks, but she will happily chew on a vegie rusk in between her meals (brekkie, lunch and dinner)

I give DD1 vegie rusks all the time between meals but was hoping for an alternative. I got the idea from another website (which I cant mention!) where between 9 and 12 months you can start giving them a snack at 11am before lunch and 4pm before tea. Today was good gave her half a mashed banana at 4 for the first time and she was very happy lasted till tea time and ate all her tea too

be careful with carrot sticks they CAN be a choking hazard as they have to be well chewed before swallowing - so it depends on the child ..

I prefer to offer grated carrot (but I'm a paranoid mum )
